What one word would you use to describe the hopes you have for the new year?

I'd have to say healthy and that includes physically, mentally, spiritually and financially. Having said that, I'm off to spend some time on my elliptical Big Smile

     Happy New Years!!

Hmm the ex just called and said he is taking Sadie this is weird. He lives with his mom and she has a chihuahua  hopefully he is knowing what he is doing and he does a good job separating them.

Very quiet NYE here.  Thanks to an afternoon nap, I was still awake at midnight.  I changed the channel to watch the ball drop, had a coffee mug full of eggnog w/rum and then went back to watching circa 1959 episodes of "The Twilight Zone" for awhile. Hope everyone has a great 2011!

Happy New Year Everyone. I stayed up, but it wasn't fun. Wrote a seperate thread about the elbow pain I experienced. Ari and I today are bringing in the new year by being complete bums around the house. Me being up all night, kept her up so she's just as tired as me I suppose lol. The SO is off skiing and hmm I think my nachos are just about done!

I wish everyone a great 2011! My only wish for the new year is not for myself. I really hope the my dearest friend can find some stability in her living/work situation and that things start turning around for her.

Yawn.....seems soooo much later than it is.

Did the walks earlier, worked on clearing the driveway in several spots where the packed snow was thawing, made us some lunch, went for a short drive just for something to do.....and now I could curl up and go to sleep, but, now, need to get dinner ready.  Blech.

What happened with leslie? I haven't been keeping up with fb much this weekend.

Oh, happy new year all! Hopefully everyone has checked in and is not too hung over.

The guns and fireworks were really loud here last night so I was up pretty late.

Everytime I fall asleep today lily grabs a toy and starts barking and whining. I'm about ready to committ doggy murder. She will leave me alone while I lay around for hours but as soon as I fall asleep she wakes me up!

Leslie's Pepper went to the bridge yesterday. Lung cancer, she held on till Leslie got there.

Hi folks -- we did Give Kids the World this morning -- the dogs had a BLAST.  buncha dog folks there this time.  A dutch family was there who had a jack russell/pug cross LOL -- BUSY morning there.  Gave out tons of certificates.

SLEPT this afternoon.  After getting home so late and then up early (yawn) to go to GKTW we both crashed this afternoon so David didn't do his "New Years Day Dinner" thing til late and we just got done eating (this was ... think "the only meal today";) and I AM STUFFED.  He makes **the** best salmon ever!!  smashed taters, peas and champagne! yum

Now I gotta go do dishes! (more than a fair trade!)

    Happy New Year!!!!

We got back home on Wednesday... and have slept at least 10 hours each night since.  Visiting family can be exhausting!  Had a good time but definitely glad to be home.  Took down all our decorations but other than that we haven't tackled one thing on our to-do list.  LOL.  That's what vacations are for, I guess.

Spent a couple hours at the e-vet with the Sammer last night.  He had cracked a nail on Dec 20 or so, but it wasn't too bad, no quick exposed and very little bleeding.... wasn't bothering him in the least.  So we just watched it and left it alone.  Well, we come home last night, let him out and he runs down the deck stairs and right back up.  Josh went out to chase him down to do his business and he flew past him into the kitchen and there was blood everywhere.  A good 50 bloody prints but thankfully only on the tile.  I stopped the bleeding finally but when I went to pull some grass out of it, Sam was in pain and he was walking funny on that foot so off we went.  $182 and two hours later and the puppy is now sans one toe nail :(  He doesn't seem to miss it though...

Between that and my fun ice skating trip down the stairs and driveway on Thursday, we had a painful couple of days but so far this year is much more hurt-free.

Time for some dessert, some games, and then more sleeping!

    Happy New Year, everyone.

Spent NYE at home, fell asleep around 10:30 woke up around 2 am and went to bed. Made Texas Caviar this morning and some chopped cabbage to put it on. Texas Caviar is black-eyed peas with some spicy kick to it. The recipe we use is from the magazine Saveur. Anyway, chopped jalapeno or serrano pepper. Chopped red onion. Chopped garlic. Chopped cilantro. Red wine vinegar. Olive oil. Fresh ground black pepper. Mix well and chill. Chopped cabbage with some chopped onion in it. We eat black-eyed peas on New Year's Day for good luck.

Did a new version of an old favorite song of mine. I can never get the tone of Bon Scott. Which is probably good. So, I decided to do this song in the style of Ronnie James Dio, who passed away in 2010 from stomach cancer. I am still saddened by that. As big as his voice was, his heart was even bigger. He only stood about 5' 3" but he was a giant among men. In the heavy metal genre, in music in general, and as a human being concerned more with others than himself.

I don't sound like Dio but I can sing in his style, quasi-operatic. So, I sang this song the same way I sang "Rainbow in the Dark." So the phrasing plays hob with the timing but it still fits. But what if he had covered an AC/DC song?

So, here's some road music. My theme song, of sorts.

    Happy New Year All!

No news from the community that got hit by the tornado.  Still asking folks to stay out.  I hope that at some point we can help in some way.

    Leslie {{hugs}}

We stayed in, passed on a party.  Had some nice snacks, a little wine asleep before 11:00 (very late for me) Hubby woke me up to let me see the ball drop on tv and gave me my New year kiss :)   Today we had our traditional black eyed peas and fried tators and cornbread.  Got the little bit of Christmas decorations packed away and changed out the calenders.  Generally lazy today oh and yesterday, lol.

    Have a great evening.
