Merry Christmas Eve/Happy Friday Chat

Merry Christmas eve everyone!  Well, I've got a darn cold.  As hard as I've tried fighting it off with loads of Ecchinecea and VC, it got me.  Sore throat, coughing.  Lovely.  The bright side is that we didn't plan on any holiday shin dig at our house.  The bum side is that we wanted to  deliver gifts to both Mom's place and Rick's sisters nursing home.  Can't do that.  We will need to wait to deliver, I suppose.

Got up this morning to my usual routine of coffee, dog snuggling and adorement of the Christmas tree and decorations.  AND, since its Christmas Eve and all....put on the CD player filled with Christmas music.  Love it!  I am however...missing the girls, its not often that they aren't here for Christmas.

We will be running around town today...Rick wants to find a good pair of cowboy boots; a patio heater; and a gift for the neighbor.  And, we need to ship off the girl's presents for delivery on Monday.  They all will be home Tuesday.  But, First...Tylenol Cold.

Poor Zoe, I hope her swelling goes down soon.

Have a very Merry Christmas Eve....wishing you all my very best.  Hugs to all who need them, and even if you don't.  Love ya!  Smile

Edit - Zoe has a fungus in her feet.  I have no idea what kind/cause.

I'm pretty sure Sassy's was a fungus and allergy-related too. It happened back when we were fighting off infections on a regular basis. Man, I sure don't miss those days.

I think DH is coming down with a cold too and the poor guy has to work tomorrow and the next day. He's on his medic rotation which makes things busier and yucky. Unless he were sick enough to be admitted to the hospital, there's no calling in sick on Christmas day though.

My SIL just called to see if we wanted to go over to MIL's for dinner tonight. I guess this plan just came up today but I told her that with DH getting sick, it wouldn't be a good idea.

Not sure what's worse for the poor guy...having to work on Christmas or being sick AND having to work....probably the later.  Years ago when my Dad was still a firefighter, those who had the day off and officers who didn't "fight fires" on a regular basis, would go in and relieve the on duty guys so they could at least go home for dinner with their families.

     Merry Christmas eve, everybuddy!

    Good vibes for Zoe toes!

Karen - did your sister get a vizsla? And why are you not over there taking pictures?!

We're going over to MIL's tonight for Christmas, then we'll be at my aunt's tomorrow afternoon. I still have nothing wrapped! Tongue Tied I'm hoping DH can take the kids over to MIL's early and I'll wrap then. I can't do it after the kids go to bed, because the kids haven't really been going to bed lately. Sleep

Willa complained a few times yesterday that her "gums hurt," which means she has a sore throat. She went to bed fine. Sonja was up until 10:30. Willa woke up at 12:30 (I think) with croup. I felt so bad. Sonja was up at 3:30, then everyone got up at 7. Poor Willa sounds horrible today. We did the steamy shower thing and it seemed to help a bit. We blew bubbles and I let her draw on the mirror with bath crayons. After we were done, I started wiping moisture off the walls with a paper towel. I had no idea walls got that dusty. Embarrassed

Merry Christmas Eve everyone!!  All I have left to do is clear all the wrapping supplies off the dining room table so we won't be eating in the living room. Big Smile It's overcast and foggy today - not a bad fog.  At least you can see headlights, taillights and  traffic lights pretty far down the road. I can't believe I actually have dinner covered for two consecutive nights. Wink The earth just might start spinning in the opposite direction.

    BIG EMERGENCY HERE......NEED HELP!!!!!

I finally decided to make my cheececake and got halfway through when I realized I only had half a cup of milk!!!!  NOOOOOO  It's for instant pudding that goes with it so my question is....can I sub Soy milk for regular milk to make instant chocolate pudding???  I'm a soy drinker but I always have a liter of the normal on hand for recipes and the sort!

"I don't know" says the lady who doesn't cook if she can avoid it Big Smile but I can't think of any  reason why you couldn't substitute one for the other.  I usually keep a few cans of milk in the pantry for those times when I need a cup or two for something and I don't want to use up the regular milk. Regular or skim, the cans work just fine in any recipe that calls for milk.

Did a search to see what I could find and the reviews were mixed!  :(

I'm gonna give it a whirl ...what's the worse that can happen right!!!  I'll try using less soy milk than called for!

Good thoughts and vibes to those that need them...and HUGS TO ALL.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

*Yawn* So much for a white Christmas... We have a rain storm that's been going strong for 2 days now.. Maze has discovered the joy of puddle jumping.. *sigh* Lol.   However I caught Maze trying open her presents early.  So now the tree is barricaded off and she's pouting on a chair.. Plus I tortured her by putting jingle bells on her.. Hehehehe

Bought myself some new underwear today - Merry Xmas to me!

Got a couple of stocking stuffers for DS.  Made the Whoopie pies Deb sent me.  Seems like they're a success.

My brother sent my DS a card and gift card, but didn't address the card to me or send me one separate.  I sent one to him and SIL signed from both me and DS early in December.  I don't get it.

Get well soon, all you sickies!

That does seem strange Tina. Do you think your card hasn't made it yet or got lost in the mail? I got your cute card today - thank you!

Johnny - I have no clue about subbing soy milk for regular milk but I'm anxious to hear how it turns out.-

Jan - I hope you're able to get some time to wrap presents but mostly I hope you're able to get some much needed sleep. You must be exhausted.

It's turned in to a gorgeous day here and I have this feeling like I should be hiking somewhere. I think I'm just antsy lately and didn't get any exercise today.

Sure Johnny...I might be a bit late here, but use your soy milk...it'll be fine.

Merry Christmas everyone, we are in for the night...have my loungies on...and getting ready to enjoy a Christmas Wish with my best friend in the whole world.  Smile  Just as soon as he finishes his slightly OCD-like blowing leaves off the drive.  Silly man.  Big Smile

Going to watch The Nutcracker on PBS tonight.  It's just starting.  I don't think I have ever seen it in full.  This should be good!!  I hope it puts us in the Christmas spirit.

Wish all of you a Merry Christmas and may all your wishes come true in the New Year!

Back from church and a very nice meal out.  Came home and gave B a 12" bully stick - gone in the blink of any eye LOL

I'm not a regular church goer but no matter where I have lived I have gone to church on Christmas Eve. Tonight as I sat there I was thinking that I can recall being there with multiple generations of my family and the memories are powerful.  Its without doubt the strongest tradition I have and one I will carry on as long as I am breathing. Its also something my DH now not only does but enjoys, thats a great feeling too because I used to have to drag him there.

now its time for relaxing, a bit of bubbly and enjoying the moment

I just want to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas.  Whatever it means to you, however you mark the occassion.

Kelly's mom came by and brought gifts for the fur kids.  Baily opened his Secret Santa box (thanks Lisa!) and we had awesome pizza, a yummy red wine and watched "The time traveller's wife".  This is an awesome book made into a great movie.  Tomorrow we are sleeping in and going to my parents (with siblings, kids and Grandma) for lunch.

Thank you all for being my friends.  It may be a bit strange...but I'm afraid I'm addicted Wink
