Puppy's fur..

I have had my aussie mix puppy for about two weeks now, my question is about the color of her hair. When i first got her she was a red merle, now she is still merle of course but hair hair has lightend alot. Normal?

yep its normal... lots of puppies change colors as they grow.

Do you have any pictures you could post? My girl's dam is a red solid and her sire is a blue merle and Ruby turned out a bi-color black & white. She had a couple littermates that were red merle but I've always had merles so I went with her because she was so different.

My Lani started out as a black & tan Shepard mix looking pup and grew up to be a red & white foxy looking Sheltie mix!

Pups do change.

As long as she is not left out in the sun and has no health issues the hair lightening is normal.

I've seen the ends of the hair lighten in the red merle and red tri Aussies that I've been around as pups and it darkened again as their adult coat came in. Rough Collies will do the same thing when their puppy coat is changing to the adult coat.

I think this is a pretty natural thing in dogs, I know Goldens almost always go through a color change, so when getting a pup dont be influenced on light/dark because they do darken/lighten out!

Also Lizzie is growing out her coatit has lightened a bit in some places, and she had this cute black spot at the base of her tail and it has spread so her tail is now the classic Collie, sable with black foreground color
