A question if you do not mind. What do you have to do to get a dog better from Demodex?
Different people treat it in different ways. There is no right or wrong way to treat a demodex dog.
Cher's skin was very badly infected. The first 10 days that she was here, you couldn't touch her without making her bleed. It was just an unfortunate fact of life. We had "Cher towels" that we wrapped her up in, so that she could snuggle with us without making a huge mess all over us or the furniture. She was on antibiotics for 8 weeks. During that time, she underwent a skin biopsy & culture to help determine what antibiotic would be most effective in clearing the infection.
As far as actually treating the demodex, I opted not to use drugs. Instead, I used a system of baths, rinses, supplements, & a high quality diet to clear her skin up. It was a lot of work, but it worked very nicely for her, & I didn't have to stress her system further, with additionaly drugs.
Sambob, if you want specifics on exactly what I used & what routine I followed feel free to pm me. I'll be happy to provide you with further information. I am always a bit uncomfortable posting specifics in a thread for fear that a lurker, or passerby may half heartedly read my post, & try it, incorrectly, on their own dog. I don't want to inadvertently hurt someone else's dog by posting info on an open forum.
