    - Do you have any names in mind for future dogs?

Just thought this might be an interesting thread. Seems a lot of people wait until after they bring a new puppy/dog home to come up with a name for it....I've never been one to do that as I like to start getting my dog to recognize his/her name from the moment I bring it home. I usually have about 2 names chosen and then name it one of those, if niehter fit the dog at all, then I'll try to think of something else. Anyway, names I have chosen for my future Toller (female) are River or Aero. Someday, when I finally am able to get a Belgian Groenendael I've thought of the name Static but I'm not totally decided on that one at all...I'm sure I'll find something better/different. So, what are yours if you have any?

If we adopt or foster a dog and Brown and Grey are around, we're naming it Blue. It's only fitting that we continue the Crayola tradition.

    Domi

    Just to name a few...

I have yet to own a dog that was not named prior to their arrival, in some cases, years before conception [:)].   Names, call names in ( ):  (Morgan) La Fay CD- dobe;  Rabels Grand (Marshall)- dobe; Rabels Rambunctious (Reggie) CD (akc and ukc)- dobe who really lived up to that name; Rabels Black (Baylor)-gsd;  CH Dessine de faire l'affaire CD PT RN (terv); Roulet's (Ecko) Unlimited- malinois
It used to be that I just picked a name I liked.  Now I tend to settle on a litter.  Find out the theme and then go on the name search.  I thought I had one for the Malinois puppy, but now I have a chance to look at a 6 month puppy who has already been named.  So, we will have to see if she comes home with me.  It will likely be the first time I did not have a name ready.  If she does not come home with me,  the puppy bitch's name will be Tri Sorts Walkin in (Memphis).  The terv boy (about 3-4 years in the future) is most likely to be named  Gable de'faire l'affaire (not Clark, Dan)

Lots of folks tell me they dont name a dog until they meet the dog/puppy.  I have also heard people say very very careful what you name them (i.e. Trouble,  etc)  Because they may or may not, live up to that name.

Great topic! I've never been one to pick out names ahead of time. I've always waited until I had the animal and at that point I would make lists on top of LISTS and drive myself crazy trying to pick the perfect name. [&:] Now, I'm turning into more of a planner and not going for perfection, but just a good name. Makes life easier! [:)]

My next dog will (hopefully) be a solid chocolate Shih Tzu and the names I have in mind are:

    Mocha
    Chocolate Chip (Chocky Chip)
    Coco Puff

I really like dessert names. My Shih Tzu is named Gingerbread and my guinea pig's name is Smores. In the past I had a Shar Pei named Peanut Butter and hedgehog named Truffles.

I've been thinking of names for my distant future dog which will probably be an Akita or Dobe rescue.

An Akita, regardless of gender, will probably be Riko (pronounced reeko) in the tradition of naming them after some of my favorite ski students (Maddi's name was a tie up between Maddi and Riko, but Riko is I believe a Japanese name, so I thought it best to reserve it for a someday Akita).

A Dobe... hmm, I dunno. I'd probably break the tradition and name them after German foods... you know, like Käse for a male (which it probably would be) or Kuchen for a female.

Keeping with our beer theme, I came up with Kueken's Miller Lite awhile ago (my niece used to call me Aunt Kueken).  My husband kind of shot it down, tho, when I said the call name would be Rusty (Rusty Wallace was driving the Miller Lite race car when I came up with it).  We usually wait until we get to know the critter some before we name it, tho.  Mick was easy- he was named on the way home the day we adopted him.  We had the cat and rabbit about the 3 days before they were named.

I already have a name picked out for my next dog her name will be Jasmine or Jass for short. I hope in the next 3 or 4 years to be getting her and it's going to be a GSD. Had this name picked out and what breed I want now for over 3 yrs now.

I can't stop building my list of names for Cooper's future sister!!!!!  I think that Lily or Avery will win, but it depends on what her name already is.  Cooper's name was Lucas when we adopted him and that just didn't work for me, but Cooper sounded similar.  Lucy is no longer in the running because Cooper now has a girlfriend named Lucy. PepperDaisyAthenaGypsyMacy or Macey or MacieAveryLucyMavisAbbySadieCassieLilyKiraZoeyDaphneSaharaTashaKya

I have a few names for future dogs
The first ones are obviously names for dogs that will be registered

    A New Hope (Luke)
    Princess of Alderaan (Leia)
Le Roi Soleil (Louis) - I really have no thought in mind as to what type of dog this is, I just thought Louis would be a cool name

    Other names
Lucy - this would be a dark colored dog
Trevor- was what we were going to call the other dog we were considering along with Max, but Millie picked Max, so that is back in the running.
Throckmorton- just because nobody believes I would actually do that
Finndrake- my friend was reading a list of what were supposed to be bad baby names, and she said Finn, and the next one was Drake. I thought she said Finndrake, like all as one name, which I liked, but she was actually saying them as two different names, which I don't like.

I made another topic like this for stranger names... heh.

I want to get two brothers and call them Bug and Glitch. I also want to get a black German Shepherd and call him Shigure. [:D]
