Hi Deb!  Job vibes and fingers crossed for Amanda and Glenda and Tina's sons, and whoever else needs them!

Gina, give yourself a little time, and you will start to feel more normal again.  I can't even imagine the pure terror you must have fealt, but anytime someone has even tried to break into our home, successfully or not, I feel totally and completely violated.  When I was in a technology class last week I learned about a security camera that is fairly inexpenve to buy and set up on your own.  It might be worth looking into for purposes of being a deterent as well as being able to monitor your home easily.  Not sure if it would make you more or less uneasy, but if you want the name let me know and I will ry to find it for you.

Devin was feeling much better this morning and so far has not thrown up anymore.  She ate breakfast and kept asking for more.  Then she wanted a  "nack" as she calls it (snack) and asked for another nack at my mom's so I guess she is making up for lost time.  My mom is feeding her lunch so I have my fingers crossed that it goes well.  And as you said yesterday Gina, throw up is my least favorite part of being a mother too!  I do hope it gets easier as she gets older or that I at least get better at not showing her that I am freaked out.  Ugh, I hate it!

OK back to work.  Even though I am only a few hours short this week, I need to get some things accomplished!

Xebby, congrats!  I can't think of anything more satisfying than loving your job and having them appreciate what a good job you're doing.

Gina, "safe and calm" vibes coming your way.  I'm sure it's going to take awhile after something like that, so give yourself whatever time you need.

Deb, glad the surgery went well!

Glenda, good luck with the job efforts.  Keepin fingers, toes and paws crossed.

Jackie, Max does the same thing with his toys.  I keep them in a big basket in the living room and he digs through like he's looking for a particular one, strewing them all over in the process.  It's like having a two year old again.

I went to Trader Joe's this a.m. and got a jar of TJ's pumpkin butter and one of cranberry apple butter, then cruised through World Market.  I'm loving having those two stores right next to each other and only about 5 minutes from home. For so long all the "BANANAS" (Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anyone" were getting their way on everything, but now we seem to have a different demographic here. Big Smile Who knows?  Some day we might even have a Wally.

Fingers crossed for you, Glenda, for that job.

Congrats, Xebby!  It's so nice to be appreciated at your job.

Melinda!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I. Am. So. Thrilled.  You rock!

Chatted with Deb on FB a little earlier.  Glad her surgery went smoothly.  Crutches are the pits. Pun intended.

Gabby can stand on her back legs and reach things on my desk. Sad

Hi ho, hi ho, back to work I go.

Oh, got the ASAT leads I ordered and I can see why Liesje raves about them.  Very nice feel in your hand and if they last the way they are supposed to, they're a bargain.

eta glad to hear Devin is feeling better and eating her nacks. :)

    What are ASAT leads?

Joyce - I'm going to TJs on Sunday or Monday and will now add those butters to my shopping list. They both sound yummy.

I can't believe how fuzzy-headed I feel today. If I didn't know better, I swear I'd taken a sedative but I didn't. I actually felt better when I first got up this morning.  Hopefully lunch and a diet pepsi will help.

They're leads/leashes made out of a synthetic material.  Thin and flexible, impervious to water and you can easily clean them when they get dirty/muddy.  Easy on your hands and nice looking.  I've used leather leads for years but after reading Lies' posts about how much she loved them I decided to order some.

I wish we had Trader Joes here. :(

Okay, I googled them and they do look super nice. I use leashes of synthetic material too but I think it's just nylon or something and I buy them at Big Lots Stick out tongue. Sassy likes to hold a part of the leash in her mouth when she walks and sometimes when she gets overly exhuberant, she starts chewing thru it. We stop her when we notice but she can do a lot of damage in a short time.

    Yay Melinda!

    Glad to see Deb posted!

Hope Devin is over the vomiting.  Absolutely right - nothing worse than that.  Ick!

    Yay, Deb! Happy foot-healing!!

What about the Lupine brand leashes? They have a lifetime guarantee, even if your dog chews them up. I got Rascal a Lupine harness, after he chewed through his previous 5 cheapo ones, and it's lasted us for several years now. (Of course, this is because he decided he shouldn't chew THIS harness. Go figure. But at least if he does, we'll be covered!)

(** Callie crawling out from under her rock **)

Hi -- I'm still alive!!  And I feel better than I did yesterday (at least today the ton of antihistamines and decongestants WORK) and I gotta say that codeine cough syrup rocks -- puts my butt to sleep but hey!!  LOL (see why I do all the naturals?  I have the heart of an addict!)

Jackie, in many ways Gabby sounds SO Much like Luna -- Luna's definitely height-imparied but there isn't a counter anywhere she can't "surf".  And I swear she can do chin-ups with her front paws.

Good job hunting prayers & good thots for Tina and Amanda's sons and HUGE ones for Glenda.  I know you'd feel better being out and about~

It's supposed to get cold here by late Saturday/Sunday.

Gina -- I know how you feel.  A few years before I finally kicked my ex's butt out of the house, we had an attempted home-invasion.  Ex-hub happened to be IN the kitchen when he heard somebuddy at the door.  He went to open the door and came face-to-face with an intruder but before he could react suddenly we had a yard full of cops.  He'd been stealing car stereos down on the big commercial strip that's just a few houses away and he tried to get away by taking off thru everyone's backyards -- except what he didn't know was that we all had dogs.  He vaulted over the railing to get away from MINE and was on his way in the house to get away and  found himself cornered/surrounded.

It left all of us pretty shattered including the dogs.  I have some pretty solid coping mechanismsboth to make myself feel safe and to NOT obsess checking things 99999 times.  I always lock the door when I come IN.  Always have a flash light near all the doors and I always leave my purse in exactly the same place every night.

You'll find your own coping mechanisms.  It will take time but you will swing back to normal.

I think I can go back to work tomorrow.  Man, I can't believe how badly this laid me low ... my ears are ringing and I'm glad I don't have to 'think' to make any decisions today.  sheesh.  my brain is sludge

Glad to hear that you are still among the living, but sure am sorry you're still feeling so punk.

it was a bit warmer here today than yesterday, but wet and raw.....
