    Vet Diets at Petsmart

Does anyone know if you can purchase a prescription diet at Petsmart without actually having a prescription from their Banfield vet? ( You know how Petsmart has a shelf full of special diets next to their vet's office). I am asking becuase I do not take Jetta to their Banfield office, but they do have a certain prescription food I am interested in that my own vet does not carry. Can I just take it to the check out counter like its a regular dog food?

    I know, stupid question-lol[&:]
BTW the food I am looking at is Royal Canin SS for dogs with atopic skin disease. Its the only food I haven't tried, why not!! It just may work for Jetta's constant itchy skin...

Hi--You don't have to see their vet but you do need to bring in a prescription from your own vet and bring it to the reception area and they will make a little ID card with your dogs name on it and what food it is and how many "refills" you have.  Then you can go in anytime and pick up the food and bring it to the register but you've got to show the card in order for them to let you buy it.

Oh really? That stinks. I was hoping I wouldn't have to go to a vet at all...

    Thanks for the info[:)]
