On another note, I am not certain if it is just me, but I find something appalling. An infant recently passed on after being left in a car for multiple hours.  The news reported the parent took a nap. However, working with someone who lives in the house, that wasn't the case.  Now, I don't even find taking a nap a valid reason...I have been very tired..I have never forgotten even my pets in the car. I don't know how you can neglect to notice silence for way longer than a baby that young should be.

However, the parent was not napping. (no, they were not doing anything illegal) So, to me, it is even more inexcusable that you were having a grand ol time for 5 hours and never noticed that you didn't have to feed, change or tend to an infant.

They're not telling the authorities the truth because the other parent "has already lost a baby, they shouldn't have to lose a lover too".

    This really bothers me.

Uhh, understatement.  What did you say to the person who divulged this??  If this was criminal negligence... I don't know, I'm not a lawyer...

The entire workplace (as this is where she made the statement...more than once) did the blank stare/wtf look.  I believe no one wanted to say anything because the baby was her relative and no one wanted to give a 'wth are you thinking?!" speech.

I do have a feeling that there will be charges filed either way..there was a similar case that didn't result in the infant's passing on and that parent was charged and convicted.

I'm sorry that the parent who left the baby in the car is "devastated" but feeling bad about being irresponsible after the fact doesn't change your actions that led up to it.  Playing a game for 5 hours while your baby is stuck in a car in the midday desert heat is just not excusable.

Something else unbelievable to me was that, in the article, a spokesperson for an organization about kids and car safety gave suggestions to prevent such things..like putting your purse or cell phone in the backseat with the baby. I'm wondering how you can remember your cell, but not the baby...

Isn't that the saddest, frickin comment on some people's priorities?  The whole idea of forgetting your kid just boggles my mind.  I've been distracted, sick, mad, hurried, whatever and i've never, in over 40+ years of owning dogs, come close to forgetting where any of my dogs were.  I can't imagine forgetting one of them in the car.  Forgetting a child just blows my mind but it happens quite regularly.

Lies, to heck with the people who don't care enough to share your excitement about your new puppy.  I have a sneaking suspicion that they might feel a combination of jealousy that you are so passionate about your dogs and dog training and a tinge of feeling left out of this part of your life.  Most people don't have your drive and comittment about anything.  I wish your family could appreciate your dedication and passion the way we do but it's harder for family members because of emotional baggage that gets lugged around.   Having spent many years in a dog sport and missing many family events, I know a little of how you feel.  I've been one of your biggest fans since I joined this forum.  I admire your total dedication to be the absolute best trainer and dog owner you can be.  (((Hugs)))
