Wednesday, last day of summer chat

Hugs and hope to all that need it...

HOW can acorns sound like BOMBS when they fall on your roof? I swear I have been jumping all morning at the random dropping of those danged things! then there's the complete utter INSANITY of the squirrels frantically in overdrive trying to collect them and bury them almost simultaneously....*eyeroll*

    I love Autumn....but I detest, acorns.

    Almost forgot...

Gina, I hope things are going well for your DH at work (as well as audits can go).

Jackie, how's your friend's dog Red doing today?

Oddly enough Tina, he's been calmer of late. I have been worried all day while he's gone. I guess it is a "process" perhaps taking weeks? I had no idea...I thought it was like the grasshoppers in Bugs Life, they come, they eat, they leave. But nope...they come, they sit, they talk, they demand, they scrutinize, they judge, they advise, they admonish, they eat...THEN...they leave!

I think he's pacing himself...he's started to gain some weight back which is a good sign. The loss got the doc all in a tizz and hence the cat scan...but he seems better. Unfortunately I have not lost any weight due to stress. But my sit ups have kept me on an even keel whilst I indulge in bouts of stress eating. One strategem that's been working is...when I get up to hit the kitchen for a snack...I clean something instead. I'm impressed with how well this has been going...

I know  same here!!  I keep jumping thinking that something or someone is at the door.  Our tree is very close to the door and a window, I just know one of these days it is going to break something, lol, then the squirels go nuts then the boys go nuts.....lol!

I still feel too crappy to really post, I do appreciate all the advice on the resume tho! So...I'm glad he decided not to throw it the window, lol! He decided he would chew the rope through so it was disconnected from the bottle. Then he decided it was STILL too hard, so he chewed on the ball thing until he got a larger hole. Literally, this took the few minutes it took for me to get in my PJ's and go to the bathroom..Lol, I totally almost wrote "go potty". Geez. So now I have a jug. Lol. Next time I'll just save myself money and get him a thermos or something.

I have 5 credit card statements sitting on my desk.  Anyone want to come reconcile them for me?  I hate doing them with a passion...least favorite part of my job for sure.

    • Gold Top Dog

Thanks for all the support and hugs.  I feel like I've been very needy lately but hopefully I can get back on some kind of even keel soon.

Tina, I talked to Red's mom this morning and Red is doing ok but the vet hadn't called with the latest BUN & Creatinine numbers this morning.  Friend has been torn whether to visit Red because she can't bring her home yet.  Red doesn't do well at the Vet and she's afraid it might be worse for Red to see her but not be able to go home with her.  I've been in that same situation and it's a tough call.  They won't have the results on the leptospirosis(sp?) test until tomorrow at the earliest. My friend seemed better this morning but I know she's barely holding it together right now.

Courtney, I hope you're able to get across to your BF how important it is to share with each other while you're separated.  Your situation is so hard.  (((hugs)))

Nicole, sorry you had that happen with the uncapped needle.  Sheesh, you'd think people would have a care.  Good vibes that all is ok.

Glenda, good for you getting moved in and especially for getting a good night's sleep.  Pace yourself on unpacking.

I'm chuckling at the conversation I'm hearing from coworker's office.  One of his hunting buddies is in there and they're talking about.......hunting. The funny part is that these two guys can't remember their wives birthdays or what day they have a doctor appointment or many other of life's details but they can tell you exactly where they spotted an elk three years ago and what time of day it was, the weather that day and any other little detail of the experience.  :)

We (a/c company, not me personally) might purchase a 1920 commercial refrigeration unit.  It's made of hardwood with glass doors and was custom made for one of the oldest restaraunts in San Antonio.  It's for sale on craigslist.  They posted pictures and it's really gorgeous.  It would make a great shelving unit for an office and what a conversation piece.  They problem may be getting it moved out of the main dining room as it's a very large piece.  We may go look at it later today.

Amanda, I'm glad the situation with the teacher is resolved and that no blood was shed. lol  She might need to rethink her chosen profession.

Gina, continued good thoughts for your hubs.  Hey, every time I want to eat from stress, I'll let you know and you can come and clean something at my house.  lol  Seriously, that's a great idea and I should start doing that myself.

Karen - I'm sorry about your aunts passing (((HUGS)))

(((HUGS))) for everyone else that needs them too and one for me, while I'm at it. I'm so frazzled this week. The 6 hour Board mtg went much better than expected, but it was still stressful and now I have oodles of stuff to catch up on. I sent out an email to all our sites that I'd be off next week and to get in anything that needed doing this week or wait until I got back. I don't really have any choice but to let then know but it makes things pretty crazy for me trying to stay caught up. Reminding myself to take deep breaths helps and I had a "things I have to be grateful for" talk with myself on the drive in. Big Smile

Courtney - If you figure out the magic to getting men to communicate better, you'll be rich.  Here's a special (((HUG))) for you cause I know how frustrating it can be.

I was worried that the we were going to have cooled off too much when my friend was here but we're supposed to be in the low 90s this weekend. I think it'll be perfect for what we want to do.

When I arrived at the school this morning, I was met by 16 other angry fifth grade parents. The teacher sent out an email to all of the parents in the class, accusing them of not controlling their kids, & teaching their kids how to behave. The kids were all referred to as "monsters, jerks, punks, & a-holes" so apparently, my "monster" isn't the only kid with a problem.

OMG!!!!  That woman needs the meds I am thinking....wth was she thinking????

Wow, how to commit professional suicide in one easy e-mail!!!  Thank heaven she went "off" in an email to the parents and NOT **IN** class with something heavy in her hands.  Wow ... just .... wow!

Susan, I'm sorry you had to go to such a level with Jackson -- I know how difficult seizures can be ...

Karen, I too offer my sympathies -- there was just no super resolution to that but the ultimate peace.

Nicole -- gosh, in this day and age there is no such thing as a minor 'pin ***' -- what a shame.

I know I'm missing a ton -- it's been a difficult morning already, but hey -- it's Wednesday ...and just after noon ... did anybuddy feel it as we sailed over the "hump" in hump day???  It's all downhill to Friday now!

I had to LOL at this analogy!  State of Michigan audited our sales & use tax last year, going back 5 years, and it was 3 weeks of this type of purgatory.  I feel his pain!

Heather, I'll trade you 5 credit card statements for my 3 - NOT!

Acorns are indeed devil-corns, but not because they are landing on my roof.  Nope, the little round buggers are out to kill people by innocently laying in groups on the sidewalk.  That little part that attaches them to the tree comes off and then the acorns are all roly-poly, perfect for someone out casually walking to slip and fall on.  Those stupid things are like crabapples - it is as if one is walking on marbles.

Yeah, because there's hard proof.  Imagine if she HAD done it in class and how easily she could backtrack and blame 5th graders.  I'm glad the Principal is handling this with immediate action.

I just came back from a drive where I got to meet some neighbors w/two Bull Terriers and a Frenchie.  OOOOooh, so sweet!  The Frenchie had NO tail... kinda creepy, not even a squirrely nub.  But she was so squishy I wanted to pick her up like a fuzzy slipper!  Dogs are so good!

My allergies are driving me insane! I have allergies year round. Im not sure to what exactly, just seasonal/enviornmental stuff I suppose. These last couple days have been hell though! I can barely sleep I feel so miserable! Then I wake up and still feel like crap. They usually hit the worst in the morning and evening. They're not just a little sneeze either. My whole body reacts. It feels like my inards are burning with itch, from my throat to my eyeballs. My nose is raw from blowing it and it's rarely ever not stuffy these days. I do take Reactine but I hate taking drugs, especially on a daily basis and it doesn't help 100%. / sigh Fall isn't off to a great start!

I'd actually be really wondering if someone ELSE...hacked the teachers email and sent it. Especially if it came out of the blue. Honestly, because I am highly suspicious, it was the first thing I wondered.

Of course if the teacher admits to it...well nevermind LOL.

Tina our mail lady ended up on her keister because of loose acorns at the curb once...it was kinda sad...and funny...but mostly sad.

I thought of that, too... but considering the actions by the Principal... it leads me to believe they had conversed w/the teacher and had sufficient reason to put her on leave immediately.  If she'd said "I'd NEVER send anything like that!  I didn't do it!!" and they had faith in her, they'd tell the parents this.

As for acorns, my friends' yard is full - we pick them up as quickly as they rain down.  She pulled into her driveway the other day and thought she was under attack when one hit the roof of her car with a vengeance.

    I'm hungry - what's for lunch?
