Competition dogs?

    Competition dogs?

Since there are so many new people here since I originally joined 3 yrs ago, I thought I'd start this up to see who's out there.

What performance/conformation events do you compete in with your dogs?  (Therapy work included).  My dogs keep me very busy - I feel like a "soccer mom".

Malcolm mainly competes in Rally (he has his WWKC Rally Master and AKC Rally Excellent titles).  In addition, he has his HIC (Herding Instince Certificate), BPD (Back Pack Dog draft title), TT (Temperament Test certificate), CGC (Canine Good Citizen certificate) and is working towards his AKC and WWKC CD (Companion Dog) title.  He retired from conformation after he earned his IABCA International championship because he didn't enjoy it, and will soon be competing in NADAC, UKC, and CPE Agility (he doesn't like the weaves, so we can't do AKC).

Smidgen competes in conformation (she's got her UKC championship and has points towards AKC), plus she also competes in Agility and Rally.  She has her TT also, She only has an AKC and WWKC RN (Rally Novice) titles because I've been too busy to do any more.  She does pet expos and such with me as a demo dog, which she loves.  She was part of one of the winning booths at the AKC Invitational last year - she was literally handled by over 100 people and enjoyed every second of it.  She would have agility titles if she didn't get so excited and nip my ankles in the ring (immediate DQ).  She has some really good times and great form in the Jumpers classes (her favorite), so I'm hoping that she's outgrown some of it after our 8 mo hiatus.  We will be out again in October, once things cool down a little.  All of our agility trials are outdoors here and *I* can't handle the heat.  [:(]

The new pups, Figment and Dora, are already showing their potentials.  Figment will do conformation, rally and obedience, while litte Dora will first and foremost be an agility dog.

Since I just have Gypsy, I am not nearly as busy as you!  Whew--I get tired just reading what you guys are doing.

Gypsy has her CGC and is a breed ambassador.  We give dog safety presentations at the local schools and talk about responsible ownership, spaying and neutering and BSL. On the 21st, she will be one of the star atttractions at the library where I work as part of our kickoff for our summer reading program (our theme i s"paw, Claws, Tails and Scale"--a pet theme!).

We walk two or three times a day so she helps me with my exercise and is quite the socail butterfly here in the nieghborhood.

I compete in field trials with Hawk and we go to hunt tests.  I wish I had the time and money to due more but right now it just isn't possible.  The more I compete with him the more things I want to compete in.  It is just a joy to work as a team.

I love the hear what all your dogs are doing, makes me wish I was somewhere in your world of compitition. I have had dogs my whole life but have never owned such a beauty as a compitition dog. I have learned a lot about the dog world that all of you explain and I hope to one day own a dog with so much tallent. I have not decited what my breed of choice is but hopefuly soon I will have a dog that can stand side by side with such amazing creatures.

Till then I have my two wonderful mixed breeds who are the champions in my own heart.

Right now,  Dess (terv) has his championship, his CD, his RN and a HSAs leg (finished fourth at the national trial [:D]).  He is my demo dog for obedience class and visits schools to teach about responsible pet ownership and dog safety. He is also a pretty good chore dog around the sheep. ;Previously, the dogs had obedience titles.
Going to Virginia next week to look at mals and have a six month old puppy and some brood stock tested on sheep.  We will see if that puppy comes home with me, or I wait for a litter.

Xebby, mixed breeds can do agility and other competitions, just not conformation!  All my dogs are mixed breeds and I do agility with two of them.

Kota has his first legs in USDAA Performance Standard and Snooker.

Tasha has her first leg in USDAA Performance Jumpers.

I do Obedience and Tracking with Tux.

With Wes I do Rally-O because he's mixed and that's all we can do.  I'm hoping for Therapy Dog as well - but we'll have to hope he settles down a little first!!

I'd like to get into agility with both - but it's an hour drive to get to somewhere that runs it around here!! [&:]

They both have their CGN's, Wes has his CGC and I'm having Tux tested for the CGC in August.

I have often thought about training Gizmo to do agility but with her sevear hip displisia and the surgeries she has been through and will need I am only concerned about her health at the moment. She is currently in obedience training but I will see from there where it takes her. Georgia on the other hand is a hypothyroid dog who is somewhat overweight because of that, I simply would not feel confortable training her in agility either. Thanks, though for the info!

I do agility with Dasher, he is my second agility dog.  He is still young so we only recently started showing.  We do AKC, and a couple JRT trials.  In the fall we will start USDAA as well.  We may do some NADAC as well.

The badsenjis do or are retired from:  conformation (AKC), coursing (AKC and ASFA), agility (AKC, NADAC, USDAA), pet therapy (TDI, Inc) and have just started Rally.  Although, after this weekend's agility, I really can't call my brindle dog a "bad"senji.

The malinois has just started her agility career.  She's a rescue so she won't be in the breed ring, but maybe we'll do rally with her.

Dodger and I haven't started competing yet - still have a few things to perfect first[:D]

Dodger does have his CGC and we've participated in fun matches of rally, agility and OB.  We also started skijoring last winter and tracking this spring.

I'd love to see Dodger coursing but the local course is exclusive to SH's only[&o]

Lizzie is a bit too young for anything, though I have started her on basic obedience commands. If I see potential she will be started on agility
