He ate a candy - what should I do ?

Buster stuck his face into my purse when I went to the front door
and at one Baskin Robbins hard candy. It was chocolate-mint  flavor.
This isn't regualar chocolate like a hershey kiss, but a brown/green swirled
    hard candy.
    Buster is 50 lbs.
I found the ingredients for the candies listed on the internet:

    Ingredients
Isomalt , Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate , Heavy Cream , Cream Milk , Condensed Skim Milk , Mono and Diglycerides , Carrageenan , Coconut Oil , Cocoa Powder Processed with Alkali , Water , Natural Flavors , Artificial Flavors , Salt , Sucralose Non-Nutritive Sweetener , Soy Lecithin Emulsifier , Acesulfame Potassium Non-Nutritive Sweetener , Yellow 5 , Blue 1 , Soybean Oil Processing Aid

    Should I be worried ?

I seriously doubt that one hard candy will hurt him. There are a couple of sugar replacement chemicals in there, but no xylitol, and that's the only one you have to worry about.

He'd have to eat a whole bag of chocolate chips to get chocolate poisoning.

This should make you feel better...

Yesterday, while running errands, Charlie (evil cat) swatted a box of blue candy canes off of our kitchen table, and, of course, the dogs ate them. We weren't sure who ate them, but it was easy to figure out who it was once Grey dropped some blue poop in the yard.[sm=smack.gif]

I had to wrestle Beau for a Blow Pop he stole from the candy jar. Green apple flavor. And he would NOT let go no matter what even tho he has been taught *leave it* Apparently, DH has been allowing him to have them cause it was so "cute" how he steals them.. Pulling my hair out!!!!

DH got a kick out of the two of us wrestling for that lollipop. I didn't think it was that funny. Guess I would have had to be on the outside looking in so to speak to find it funny.

Beau is the pitty I have for those who don't know. lol

Our dog once ate most of a chocolate cake -real cocoa chocolate-and we took her
to get her stomach pumped but for little things like a part of a cookie or something, we
    don't worry about it.
p.s. It was my husbands birthday cake. ho ho

Gertie has gotten her paws on some hershey kisses (ate them foil and all) and some other not so good things. We took her to the vet and they observed her for a couple hours. The vet said they have to eat a lot of chocolate specifically dark chocolate for them to get really sick. The vet also said dogs are like little vacuum cleaners and eat things all the time that we are not aware of and nothing happens.

When I was reading about pancreatitis for my Kayla one of the sites said if they get into something like a whole bag of chocolate it can set it off.  It just makes me think unless its a large amount, like the cake story ([:)]) its not generally going to be something to worry about, depending on dog size of course.
