If other people can finish their spooky nervebag excuses for German shepherd dogs then I can finish my deformed dog!

That's the spirit! Stick out tongue

Seriously though, I admire all you've done with him and I enjoy reading your posts about training, etc and seeing your gorgeous pictures of your dogs.

Glad to hear he can still work! I will be curious to hear about the other opinions on this. This is the second GSD I have heard of having this and the other one didn't show any noticeable signs of injury as a puppy either. I'd also be quite curious if OFA would OFA him or not, since the hips look good.

Can you tell me about the other one?  I can't find any information on this anywhere but I don't know where to look.  All the key words I enter just pull up pages about hip dysplasia, or problems with a female's pelvic structure.

I wish I could tell you more about her! She was Amlines and belonged to an old breeder. When she was taken for OFA xrays the vet said her pelvis looked like it had been broken at some point and was now malformed. No second opinion was ever gotten but her vet also suggested that it could have happened when she was very young. This dog could not be OFA'd due to it. She never really showed signs in her movement of their being a structural issue. The owner had not bred her but had her from the time she was young and she never showed symptoms of pain. Her breeder never noticed any pain when she was younger either. She was bred and a friend of mine has a bitch from the litter that is fine and OFA'd good. I think another girl and one male from the litter were also OFA'd with no sign of a problem. I have no idea what ever happened to the dog, as she was placed in a pet home when she was around 4 and I never saw her again. At that age though, she had no symptoms of arthritis or problems associated with the pelvis issue.

Maybe an orthopedic specialist would be of help?

On a totally unrelated note: do you do UKC agility? Not sure how close it would be for you but UBSDA is having their National in Chelsea, MI and there are 4 all breed UKC agility trials (plus 2 all breed rally and 2 all breed obedience) being held. UKC agility is fun. Very different but fun :)
