As Astra said, small specialty shops are the way to go. I *LOVE* shopping there, they have the natural dog treats ... the cool collars, etc. Love 'em!

Anyway, as she said most dog foods have corn/wheat and you're right those are actually allergins to dogs.
I feed my dogs Solid Gold, having switched from Natural Balance, as the Vitamin K supplement they use in that and most grocery brand dog foods, is basically worthless (as reported by someone with a lot of canine nutrition, maybe someone who stops by has the link?)
Innova, Innova Evo are really great foods, make sure you don't over feed those, though. Canidae, Eagle Pack Hollistic, Solid Gold are all great foods. It's picking the one that your dogs like the best. I've tried most and finally settled on SG. Usually the boutique dog stores will have sample sizes for cheap or free for you to see which your dog likes best.
You may also look into some RAW feeding. I supplement my dogs with RMB (raw meaty bones) about 3 days a week for their teeth and everything else. They *LOVE* this special treat! But a lot of people here feed their dogs RAW or homecooked 7 days a week though.
Welcome aboard! I learned everything I said above here at idog, this is a great place!
