    Playful or deadly cats: Story

I was outside the other day playing with my cats in the grass. I was sitting in the grass and had a chopstick that I was dragging it through the grass around me so they would chase it, but the chop sticks are not that long. One of the cat's claws sliced my finger open. Blood slowly came out and I stopped dragging the chopstick, the cat just lied on it. I looked at my finger and it wasn't that bad so I continued to drag the chopstick around (after I got it from the cat who was guarding it greedly) and brought it across my feet. I wasn't wearing shoes nor socks, and again the cat slices me open again, on my toe. Blood came out a bit more this time and I though that if I kept this up, it would happen again. So i throw the chopstick a couple feet away for the cat to go chase it and I went inside to wash my hands and my bleeding toe.
My cats are deadly, lol. Maybe their owner (my sister) should get their claws filed. I would do it but I hear there is a blood vain somewher in cats claws and it would be really bad to cut the vain.

After I washed my cuts I went to go sit on the couch and watch a little TV when I noticed a big fur ball lying on the couch. I left the door open, so i got shut the door but let the cat stay inside. Cat fell asleep and I walked off to go get on the internet. Cat was kicked out sometime later.

    Ouch!

Cat claws are easy to trim (assuming you have a cat who won't freak out and fight you in the process). You can usually see the quick (the blood vessel) easily since the nails are clearish. Push out one of the claws to look at it, find the quick, and cut below it.[sm=wink2.gif]

Hmm, unfortunately, you should know better than playing with a cat with anything shorter than 4ft [;)].

I have been clawed into bleeding on more than one occassion while playing with my cats, but it comes with the territory. If you can get a wand (usually a flexible plastic or fiberglass rod with a string and toy attached) you'll be safe and the cat will get to play longer [:D].

I couldn't find any string and the cats already destroyed all their toys, I'll just have to go find another one.[;)]

Oh, and my cats are pretty good hunters too. Another  couple stories:

My brother and I drove up in our drive way, one of our cats were sitting near the garage door. My brother parks the car and we both get out curious on what the cat is eating, I have my theory from past experiences and it is confirmed when I noticed feathers all around the cat. We see what is left of a destroyed bird, the cat completely devoured it except the head and feet. I used to live on a farm and had wild cats all around the nieghborhood so I was used to seeing birds in that condition. So we left the cat to eat it's good catch, we had no idea how the cat that's not even a year old could have caught a bird.

And I don't remember if it was before or after the bird incident, but it was getting dark and I looked out  in the front yard. I saw the cat lying there with it's paws out infront of her. I watch for a couple minutes and noticed that the cat would jump around a couple times clawing at something on the ground, then she'd just lie back down and put or paws infront of her again. I went out and she just watched me approach her. While the cat was distracted, the mouse that she was pinning down, decided to break for it. But the cat caught the mouse again and looked back at me. I've seen a cat eat a mouse before but never saw a cat kill a mouse so I sit down and see how well the cat really hunts. I sit there for a few minutes seeing the mouse constantly trying to get away and the cat constantly pinning it back down to the ground. Then my other cat comes, not quite knowing what is going on until the moust tries to get away again. They trap it dozens of times but never kill it. They were just playing with it. It gets late and I notice the mouse is breathing heavily. I'm getting tired and the cats won't kill the mouse, so out of pity for the mouse and being tired, I pick up both cats and bring them inside for the night.

So my cats are pretty good hunters although I never seen them really hunt anything.
