    The irresponsible people I saw

This weekend while traveling to Ohio, I saw one guy with a choc. lab on a leash chained to the back of the pick up. The dog was walking around the bed of the truck, while the guy drove.

Then not 2 blocks down I see a guy riding his bike. At full speed with his pittie mix running along with the leash.

Then I see a collie mix running loose in the middle of the road. I couldn't believe I saw all that in the matter of 25 minutes.

On Saturday when I was driving our dogs home from a hike we took, I see a tiny Dachshund
running in the middle of the street. I slow down to see if the owner appears and no one comes.

The dog seems disoriented, going from house to house to sniff about. She's wearing tags. I get out of the car and try to lure her to me. She hides. She runs across the street, which luckily is not busy.

I take my dogs home and come back out with a lead trying to corral the dog. When she sees me following her she eludes me and after about 10 minutes and two blocks, winds up on the steps of a house. I ring the bell and ask if they own this dog. The woman is shocked that the dog is not in the house, but totally uninterested in my story of how the dog has been running loose in the street for the last half hour.

just now on my way back from lunch... this guy in a pickup had his dog on top of the tool box in back of the truck. i thought for sure the dog was going to fall off of it. never did, but what a dummy is this guy?

I see dogs riding in pick-ups chained a lot here.  The owners don't seem to care really, one guy driving in front of me was taking turns at top speed, his poor golden retriever was flying all over, and the leash/collar was probably hcoking him a lot.

I also saw a guy driving w/his poor dog flopping around in the bed of his truck and thought " What kind of idiot has no concern for the safety of his pet ??"  I swear... some people should not be allowed to breathe and I wonder how they do when their heads are implanted so firmly up their you -know-whats.

its kind of said how after a while this sort of stuff seems normal to me.

I am horrified by the things that happen on this lovely island. There are dogs laying around soo full of mange they are completely bald and no one seems to care, dogs that have been hit by cars and bitches that have had so many litters their tits are almost scraping on the sidewalk. It hurts so much to see these things but one person can only do so much :-(

*sigh*  I was driving behind a truck on a highway once and all of a sudden noticed there was a Shiba Inu standing in the back, and I didn't even see a leash or anything.  Poor thing was just wandering around and occasionally sticking its head out the side into the wind, and I couldn't help thinking of it being blown away, it was so small...  I felt like one little bump would send the poor dog flying.  I mean not that putting a big dog in the back of a truck is any more acceptable, but for some reason it seems that much worse when the dog is so tiny and lightweight [&o]
