Down Under Saddle supply - synthetic endurance saddle!

This is my first Aussie saddle. I sent in a wither tracing for Daisy and they made sure it would fit her. Its a tad wide - just a bit, but it fits her!!

I had to make some mods so it would fit her, they sent a teeny tiny 18" neoprene girth. Its the cutest thing I've ever seen!! LOL

so the mods were to pull the billet straps out of the keepers ( this saddle is a single flap) and put holes in the billets so that it could be cinched up tight. the other mod was using one of my old braided collars to put on the back of the saddle so I could attach a crupper. this one does not have a crupper bar. I plan to eventually fabricate a britchen and a breats collar to go with the saddle - since they dont really make those in 'donkey size' Donkeys are very hard to fit saddle wise since they have no withers ( well not ones like horses!)

for me I love this saddle, it's incredibly comfy & secure!! the seat is nice & soft

this is the saddle I got - but mine has a horn.

and here is Daisy wearing it!

    Very cool!

I've ridden in an Aussie saddle once before...they are really comfy!

My girl can't do synthetic tack.  My trainer used a Wintec girth on her once and she broke out in hives. Surprise

    really??

thats crazy, i've never heard anything like that!! I chose synthetic, because they're generally lighter :)

maybe she's allergic to neoprene - generally I like to stick to mohair girths, but they're hard to find in tiny donkey sizes. I had no idea they even made an 18" to begin with!

She's had neoprene tack (splint boots) on before, but there must have been something in the Wintec material that she was allergic to.  As soon as she started to sweat under the girth, she freaked out and bucked off her rider.  She was seriously flipping out, so my trainer managed to grab her & untack her real fast, and she saw the welts.

But I've heard from others who have synthetic saddles just really love them.
