    Dog(s) sleep with humans.

Is it ok for dog(s) to sleep on bed with a person/people during night time?
I heard negative things about it, but I still think it ok for dog(s) to sleep on our bed.
Also, where is a good place on the bed for the dog to sleep on?

I think it's ok, I allow my baby gal to sleep on my bed all the time.  But if someone plans to allow their dog to sleep on their bed, don't one day want to kick them off the bed because there is someone new.  They allow them all along and then one day they don't want them on the bed.  There are many reasons, yea I know but it's just upsetting, to hear stuff like that.  I don't see a problem with having her on my bed.  She loves to sleep on the foot of the bed and usually on the side.  [&:]

I always sleep better if Sofie is next to me.

My dog sleeps in her crate at night, but sometimes gets to sleep in the bed in the morning after we take her out.    She always goes to the foot of the bed to sleep.

right now we crate our dogs at night. i wouldnt mind them sleeping with us, if we could trust sydney not to destroy the house at night[;)]. at the moment one of our cats likes to sleep on the bed with us. she usually gets down around our feet and hogs the blankets!

Three of mine are crated at nite, the other three are free.  Any of my dogs is allowed on my bed, and sometimes we rotate who is crated at nite just to keep things manageable, and a bit of room in the kingsized bed for us.  They are welcome on the bed IF they are invited, and IF they get down when asked.

My dogs have always slept on our bed, but Max is by far (at about 65 lbs.) the biggest one that's ever been up there.  He's usually at the foot, since that's the spot that's directly under the ceiling fan - Sometimes I have to use a small treat to bribe him up a little farther when he's using my feet for a pillow. [:D] It's too bad that beds don't come any bigger than California King.

Sophia used to sleep on our bed.  She usually ended up right at my wifes head.  Then she started moving to the foot of the bed.  Shakespeare has been invited and carried upstairs but he jumps right in the bed.  My wife is away for another week so I brought Shakespeare up one night when I let the kids sleep with Sophia.  Shakespeare was on the bed, then got off laid on the floor near my side and then during the night went back downstairs to his bathtub

Kayla was always under the covers right next to us with her head sharing either of our pillows with us... sometimes her head on my shoulder with my arm around her... all night.... sigh... how I miss my angel.

Bailey is under the covers, usually around the middle of the bed ... but she can go wherever she wants on it, if she gets in the way we just push her over.

I sleep with dogs surrounding me.  They are little, but they feel like they are everywhere! [:D

Missy prefers the foot of the bed.  Nikki likes to be near my stomach/chest curled up under covers and Chase likes to be under covers with his head out of the covers with his head on the pillow or my shoulder, kinda like Kayla, Amy.  (I'm still so sorry for your loss.)

Last night though, he slept with his head on my neck. [sm=kiss.gif]  he's  a snuggler.

I think dogs sleeping with people is 100% fine.  As long as you control when/where they go and can move them around.  It should be YOUR bed and they know that you allow them there as a privilidge.

I think it's OK as long as you don't have any behavioral issues.  Willow is allowed up on the bed once DH gets up to go to work.  She isn't allowed in bed with us when we are both there.  She's also not allowed in the bedroom at all unless one of us is in there.  I close the door when we leave the house.

I started letting Max sleep on my bed as soon as I realized he would sleep later if I did that. He usually will sleep between my legs, which is annoying, so I end up pulling one leg up and around him and on to the other side sometime during the night. He likes to rest his head on my ankle or my knee. Sometimes he sleeps right beside me, and will use my arm to rest his head, or he'll put his head on the pillow, but he really seems to prefer using my legs to get comfy.

I think it is totally fine as long as it is what you feel comfortable with.  Ben doesn't sleep in our bed, but not because I am philosophically against it.  I am just a very fidgety sleeper and sharing a bed with me is not always a restful experience for anyone involved.  Also, while Ben might fit in our bed right now, he won't when he is a full-grown adult male Labrador, and I don't want him to get into the habit only to have to teach him to stop it in a year or so.

Things may change when we move and have a bedroom big enough for something larger than a double bed.

Buster sleeps in our bed with us at night. Almost always under the covers over my legs/between my legs/anywhere involving my legs. I often battle him at night for my half of the bed. Whats annoying is when he moves and starts kicking my legs..this is when the battle begins lol. He sleeps in/on our bed while we're gone for the day also.
The only thing I could think of why people would think having a dog sleeping in bed with you is a bad may be for sanitary reasons. But if you clean ur dog/sheets often enough you should have no problem with that. I wouldnt be able to sleep at night unless Busters in bed with me. He's my big ball of sleeping comfort lol. Whats even better is when the cat decides to curl up with us also. That only happens once the hubbies out of the bed though. A Queen size can only fit so many especialy when DH is 6'3"

Is it ok for dog(s) to sleep on bed with a person/people during night time?

I think that's such a personal decision, there are many people who would never allow their dogs on their bed and others (like me!!!) who can't possibly live without a dog on the bed.

My little one, Misty, sleeps in my armpit.  She has slept in our bed since the night we got her.  Has never been a problem.  Our adoptee, 6 years old, was raised sleeping in a crate and so we have him sleep in his crate in our bedroom.  It's what works best for him and he is very comfortable there.  At first, I found it difficult to emotionally connect with a dog that wasn't sleeping on my bed, but am getting over that.

So, it's really up to you, but as others have stated, make sure the dog knows that you own the bed and are free to invite and uninvite.
