Dasher's Agility Weekend

I posted this in "training and work, but thought I'd post over here as well...

Well Dasher and I entered in our kennel club's agility trial (AKC) this past weekend. It was Dasher's second trial ever (our first one was in the fall of 2005). We just entered in the jumpers class and not the standard class as he is just turned 1 1/2 years old and I didn't feel the need to rush anything. Well he was great!! The first day our course was perfect, but he got a little too flat over one jump and knocked a rail . The second day the course was a little tougher, with a few traps in it, we were doing great until I screwed up. Poor Dasher has a handler who needs serious help ! I made a bad choice in handling one sequence which caused him to go off course. My SO was nice enough to catch it on video, so now I can see how bad I really am!! So no Q's but I was thrilled, Dasher was fast and listened well, I couldn't ask for more!!

Yesterday after the show a bunch of us took the dogs swimming, Dasher had a blast! Here are a few videos of the day, the last one catches most of my run on Sunday...(again, please excuse my poor handling skills, I am clearly the one member of our team who needs the most work!!)

Okay I get it...OOPS! That wasn't too bad[

] - I have done much worse in the form of actual collisions!

I love the weaves and he is so fast! Your were able to call him off a couple of times which is REALLY good!

I like the video of Dasher swimming too - very cute!

Good job Dasher! Love the jumping video. Dasher really is a fast, zippy dog!

Dasher sure is fast! Wish I had that problem! lol... You need to work on rear crosses with him. You could have used those instead of your front crosses and not had the collision. He's just too fast!

But you did great! Looks good and I second Jetty on you being able to call him off and "get his head". lol...

I agree, a rear cross probably would have worked...some people did not do the second front cross, they just stayed on that same side. Most of them did ok, looking back I probably should have not done that second front cross. Oh well, I just need my instructor in my ear telling me what to do!![

Yeah don't we all! lol... I ended up having to actually run around the outside of all the jumps in our Jumpers course with Tasha just to get her to speed up! She's so slow and doesn't like all the "handling" of rear crosses and front crosses. I *really* have to encourage her! lol.. Kota is more like Dasher, just hurry up and tell me where to go ma! It's so much fun!
