What the heck happened to respect and dignity?

My DSs are 17 and 18 and would NEVER think to do anything like that.  They know how to conduct themselves in public. When they were younger, I made darned sure they knew what was/was not appropriate. They are appalled at some of the things they see when out.

I agree with Tiff and Gina. We all do stupid things when we are young. I am not a prude (not accusing anyone of being one either), but I never in my misspent, daring, drinking, take no prisoners late teens or W's would have done something like that. I have more self respect for my self than to do something like that.

As for what I would have done. Well I would have walked right on over and invited everyone around the "event" to watch, I would have asked for a camera for pictures, someone to record it and then I would have asked for names so they could have their 2 min of fame when it was posted on youtube. I also would have asked if anyone had a pair of tweezers and a magnifying glass, so we could highlight his best feature.

Yup those comments about parenting,,,, that is where a lot of this garbage behavior comes from.   We are just beginning to realize the incredibly complex interdepedence of nature and nuture.  As a professional working with children in trouble in education, parenting is the prime element that turns the tide for better.  What scares me even more, the children they will raise,,,, what a crime.

WTF?!! While I'm not one for public displays of affection, I can't imagine what would possess some people to think that it's appropriate to expose themselves in public like that ESPECIALLY at a concert! How trashy. I hope to God there weren't any kids around. I truly don't understand some people and I swear, if I found out my son did anything like that in public, he'd be cruisin for a bruisin!

I like Glenda's anwer. Point, make a sign of how teeny, tiny it is, then laugh.

Better yet, let me laugh so that the twerp can get upset. And then, he'll still crawl or walk out of there bent over.

I shouldn't say that. If he can walk out under his own power, I suggest that he should. Such behavior is not welcome, otherwise, you wind up walking or crawling out bent over.

The fact that they felt it was ok to act that way makes me feel a little sick to my stomach.  Sorry you had to experience that.  20-something is my age group too, and I am constantly asked what is wrong w/ women my age.  It usually something to the effect of "You're in your 20's but seem normal, why are all other 20 year old women so insane?"  All I can say is that my friends and I aren't, and that I don't know what the deal is with others.

I am fairly concerned about the future, but hopefully there are enough rational people in this generation, or after a few more crazy years we'll shape up and be responsible enough when we have to be running things.

Its sad to see how little self respect people have these days.

As temporarily satisfying as it may be to try and belittle people like this or to beat some respect into them, it doesn't work.  Often this type of public crudeness is meant to shock and the more people react the better they like it.   I prefer to ignore and call security if it's as blatant as this behavior.

Based on the wonderful 20ish people I've come to know on this forum; I think the world will be just fine. :)

That's what bothered me so bad... there WERE kids around. Two little boys sitting right in front of us!! It made me sick... and the kids dad just sitting there like he didn't see a thing.

I think Jackie's right.  Of course, I'm not really sure the world will be all right.  After all, even if they grow up relatively civilized, they're still primates;-)

Yes, and other types of primates deal immediately and severely with infractions against their social code. I know that not everything was good about the "good old days" but in times past, if someone had done this, there might not be anything left to arrest by the time the police could get there. At the very least, such offenders would have been arrested and spent time in jail.

I am constantly shocked at what our high school and college students view as "OK" these days...(it really makes the 70s look boring...I don't recall being bored...) I hold out hope that we're going to be OK, but I feel less and less confident every few years.

I'm especially bothered that security only saw fit to remove the males. A double standard is perpetuated and females see no need to take any responsibility for their actions--they didn't do anything wrong (as far as security is concerned).

I am so sorry you had to deal with this--I'd have called security in about 2 seconds... well, I think I would have.  (And part of me would want to yell, "Oh my gosh--I sure hope you're seeing a doctor about that! Wow, I wonder if it is still spreading? Did they do the surgery yet? Man, that looks bad.";) But, as another posted said, that doesn't help at all. As for the filming and YouTube--it's already there. I'm guessing they'd be thrilled for 15 mintues of fame.

Yep rather low class, though it always interests me when people always go on about how the youth of today are so out there.  Last I heard their were drug sex orgies at concerts and the like in the whole peace and love era of yesteryear too.  Every generation seems to think the generation that follows ain't like the good ole days.

yeah, that!! Most of us 20 somethings are ok you know.... And soon it will be our turn to forget these incidents and be horrified at the behaviour of the next generation...

I've always been "old" when it comes to certain things. I was saying "kids these days..." when I was teenager Stick out tongue. That behavior is simply appalling and I'm disappointed that the females were not asked to leave either. I detest double standards, when it comes to anything. I hope the kids didn't see anything.

In that situation, I would have notified security and probably told them to zip it up and find a hotel room, especially if there were children around.

Ron, I think you're spending way too much time in the heat.....your violent streak is coming out!

You know, if we all think back to when we were kids, we all did stuff that shocked and horrified the older generation.  Now looking at those things, they were NOTHING compared to what todays youth do, but, then again, we're harder to shock and horrify so I guess earlier generations just sort of raised the bar.

I'm not saying this was ok.  It was definately NOT ok.  Not to mention illegal in most places (indecent exposure, public lewdness)

Still......laughter goes a very long way.
