    best moments with your dogs?

After a terrible day yesterday when Louise tried to play with a little Pom puppy only to be yelled at by her owner, today we had the best day together ever.   She actually swam on purpose!   We met five dogs that she had an amazing time with, who were perfectly suited for playing with her and whose owners were sweet.   And she was great with her commands.   When I see her so happy and well-behaved and confident I feel so proud and happy, the way I suspect people feel about their kids.    As an adult I've only had cats and, while lovely, Robin's remarkable lounging and scratching-post abilities just don't make my heart swell with pride in this way :)

What have been your best times and biggest accomplishments with your dogs?

I never really accomplished anything with my dogs back when i had some. But I have a memory of them.
Back when I was about nine years old, it was spring with a fresh litter of puppies. I set up a big 'play pen' for them, they were all about a month old so they were somewhat big golden retrievers, puppy size. That was fun, i played out there with them for a couple hours. . . .Oh the memories. . . They only make me want a dog again even more. I could go on explaining the detail but that would take up a lot of space and time so I'll just stop there.

What have been your best times and biggest accomplishments with your dogs?

All of them.  I wouldn't trade a millisecond of my time with any of them for a million gazillion bucks.

Oh man, ive had sooooo many good times with my dogs throughout the years.  Thats what is so great about dogs, they give you non-stop unconditional love.  They cheer you up and are just good buddies.

I can think of the best thing with Daisy off the top of my head. We had been working on the Emergency Recall for a while, but she was still not listening outside with distractions.
Anyway, my room-mate's parents were over our house and they accidently left the door wide open. Daisy goes flying out and headed for the street. I at first freak out but come to remember the Emergency Recall word. I yell (in a hopefully calm voice) Daisy STOP. She stopped dead in her tracks, sat down, turned around and came back.
I was such a proud momma! She got a nice big cookie after that!
When we first got her, she would run out the door and you'd have to chase her down the street. (it's sad when your dog can run faster than you!)

I was also very happy when Daisy and Oscar played for the first time because Oscar hated her for the first couple of months (their first meeting she tried to hump his head...)

A couple of moments came to mind. Once, coming out of Petco, two ladies were going in with a yellow lab they just adopted. The dog was barking aggressively at Shadow. He placed himself in a sit on wet concrete and stayed that way until they had passed.

Another time, when I had an intestinal thing that kept me home in bed, he was on the bed with me, licking the back of my neck to help me feel better.

I'm with Anne....... there are too many to name!

My dogs are a constant joy for me and I love them sooooooo much. Every moment:  from the wet noses waking me up in the morning, to the after bath zoomies, to the games of fetch, snuggling on the couch and the looks of contentment when they put themselves away next to my bed at night............ it all brings me great joy. Every day that my boys are in my life are GREAT days.  The other day, though, was particularly memorable.  It was Sunday of Memorial Day weekend.  My town was celebrating it's 130th anniversary so there were all kinds of fun, small town kind of things happening in town. DH & I decided to walk into town with the boys & go have breakfast @ our favorite breakfast place.  I had called them before we left to see if we could bring the boys with us.  They said "sure!".  So DH, the boys & I all walked into town, had breakfast outside.  The boys were vert well behaved although Grady did try to play "waiter" with the people @ the next table. ~L~  On our way home, we walked through a little fair that was in the town park.  The weather was great & I was with my 3 favorite boys.  What more could I ask for?

Everyday Sara makes me proud. I must say, for the past 4 weeks she has been letting family and friends pet her without backing away. So I am really proud that she is more trusting now. It feels great to see her play with family when they come.

the most recent thing i was proud of was....  i took amelia to petsmart last sunday to get her nails trimmed. amelia is very timid and shy, but we have been working that. anyways, she was a little unsure of herself when we got to the parking lot. but then once we got into the store she was walking (actually kind of trotting around) without cowering down or puling on the leash. when we got to the grooming area there were a couple of women in there with their dogs so i sat on the bench outside the grooming lobby and she laid down by my feet while we waited for the ladies to leave. she sat nicely for the lady trimming her nails and trotted back out to the car once we were finished. i was so proud of her that day. i felt like she is really starting to make some break throughs with her timidness.

As everyone has said, there are too many moments to choose just one.  When Tonka was still with us, the simplest things brought me so much joy, and the absence of those little things make for the hugest hole in my life now that he's gone.

But, one of my favorite moments was when he was very young, maybe 18 months old.  Our neighbor's daughter, who was 4, was crazy about him.  She spent many an evening lying in the front yard with him after we returned from our walks, and he licked her ears and let her rest her head on him.  When she went to Kindergarten, she wanted to bring him to "show and tell."  We brought him in on the designated day, and she stood in front of the class with her arm around his neck (he was a Bull Mastiff, so huge compared to her), and announced, "This is Tonka, and he's my best friend."  I literally felt my heart swell, and tears sprung to my eyes as I watched them together.  She gave her little speech about his "biography" and their visits, and he happily greeted the group of about 15 Kindergartners as they circled around him.

Just one of the many ways he was truly my "pride and joy."

Every moment I have with my furbaby is wondeful. I am in love with my little girl!

    [:D]

To when I get home from work and her tail is wagging uncontrollably, to waking up next to her in the morning, watching her eat and drink, chew on ice cubes....ugh, I could go on forever.

That's why I'm a member here, this is a place where I could go on forever. Everyone here loves their furbaby just as much as if it were a real child. [:)]

Be right back, gonna go hug my Cookie

There are too many moments to pick which one is the best!!

The recent one is Memorial day I took him to see his first parade and he was well behaved he didn't act up to the tractors or the emerency vehicles he came to my side when ever he felt scared. I even took him to the cementary with me and he didn't freak out when they did the 21 salute or when they played the taps. He stood very still and looked straight ahead. Several people came over and commented on how cute Blue was and what a behaved boy he is. Ususally when ever the taps are played in the cementary when we are in the house he will howl until they stop. [:D]
