Mindless Chatter, Monday

 Hope everyone had a good 4th. I know I did, but I definitely got in a fight with the pool last night. My legs are battered and bruised. The bruising hasn't shown up on my arms yet, but I can definitely feel where it will show up later today or tomorrow. I saw the best illegal backyard fireworks show last night. I'm heading to do a few hours of work today, then I'm off to the fair tonight where I will ride the rides, eat funnel cake, play some bingo, and see the legal show.

Hopefully everyone has something fun planned for today!

Funnel cake?  Too funny.  Up here, we just call it fried dough.  But, I can't wait till Topsfield Fair to get me a piece now that you had to go and mention it;-)  I have to admit, I'm not a fan of illegal fireworks since the year I spent two hours of my Fourth in a horse stall trying to insure that the foal inside would not bang the crap out of himself.  When he settled down enough for me to go grab a phone, I finally called the cops.  Lucky me, I have the day off today, but it's a scorcher, so I'm planning on doing some work inside the house and keeping a nice glass of sweet tea handy.  My friends up here didn't even know what that was until Arizona came out with a canned version (not too bad if you get lazy and don't want to make it).  Best sweet tea I ever had was in a teency weency town in Mississippi back when I was driving truck for a living.  Glad I forgot the name of the town or I might have to take a vacation and go back...

Independance Day brings out the crazies for sure.  Dawn, I hope everything turned out ok last night after all the street excitement.

Amanda, I hope you start feeling better soon...if it was food poisoning...ugh!  I've dealt with that, not fun.  Not fun at all.  I was happy to read that Cher enjoyed the fireworks...and that you at least got to go enjoy the displays.

The fireworks started out here right on time...about 9pm.  Heidi's alert barking let me know.  We ended up watching the Texas Freedom Festival which is held downtown Houston....all 3 dogs on the carpet having a party...with DH and me.  Bruder was glued to a nice spot between DH and me, and DH just massaged his ears and head the whole time.  Bruder was in heaven.  We were able to muffle the outside noise with the tv, so everything turned out ok.  Buddy was busy with a rawhyde bone and every now and then, Heidi would go over to him and love him up.  Of course, Buddy thinks she is going to get his bone, so he puts his mean growly face on and shows his teeth at her...lol  She just wiggles and kisses him up.  The instant she steps away, he's back to sweet Buddy...cracks me up.

I really need to get my butt in there to exercise...but DH is already couching it watching a movie.  I hate to kick him out, but may need to.

One neighbor who is always out of work and broke did manage to buy a buttload of fireworks. :(  

Doesn't that just amaze you??? They're illegal here too but you'd have never known that last night. I was super tired but couldn't get to sleep until late and then woke up at 5. I need to go grocery shopping and I think I'll run by Target.

The news was filled with stories of fires and two homes burned up right in the area DH's station is, so I'm betting he's been up all night. The homes burned down because they had a block party with fireworks and then put the remnants in a trash can and stuck it in the garage

Supposed to be close to or at 100 today, so I'm not sure how much more I'll work outside but I sure did enjoy it yesterday.

 Up fairly early here too but not 3am Jackie!

Things went well last night - fun time and Bugsy was good.  He is no fan of fireworks thanks my neighbor last year that sent some flashy one towards our house while B and I were out.  Scared the poop out of me and B reacted to it and to me freaking. So now he doesn't mind the noise but not keen on the flashes.  But he still decided he wanted to stay outside with the people so it isn't too bad.

There were a bunch going off close by but not flying up our driveway so that was good.  I hope tonight is quiet around here too.

Heat wave coming in again and no rain in sight - the lawn is crunchy I am watering just enough to keep it alive.

Going to buy a small soaker hose for Myrtle the fig tree.  Hasn't rained since I planted her!

I have tons of cleaning to do after stepson leaves and lots of work to catch up on.  Bugsy is out cold - all that socializing is hard work.

LOL I have a funny Bugs-a- duke story to tell but I'll put a post up

DH & the kids are finishing their packing.  DH has to "work" at a seminar in Salt Lake City this week.  Since he only has to give one talk this week, the boys are going with him.  I'm jealous because they get a vacation before vacation next week!

I had a very fun, and very interesting 4th. Drunk dancing in the pouring rain with my best friends -  can't get much better than that! I SO needed yesterday :)

Hope everyone had a great 4th! Minus the slight insanity! 

It went okay.  Kya freaked out only a little at the fireworks.

I'm in slow motion today.  Got a few chores to work on and then I'm going to be lazy.  :D

Anyways! I didn't get up at 6:30 today. Got up at 8:30am. Lol. Played fetch with the dogs out back in the dirt. Gonna take Sandy with me when I check the mail. Then it's movie day in bed! Still getting over this cold and I'm feeling lazy.

Wow, it's quiet around here, eh?!

The kids and I went to a neighborhood bbq since dh was home sick with a tummy virus- he's been down with it since Friday :(

I was invited to the neighborhood stump burning (a hollowed out stump) but since dh was home sick, I just stayed and watch movies with him.  No fireworks display here, no money for it, says the city.

Took teh dogs for a walk this morning and ran into Echo's new boyfriend, Razz, a retired racing greyhound.  He lurrrves her and makes sure he is close to her wherever she goes. :)  So cute.It's a great thing also that I get along great with his hu-mom as we did more than a mile walk this morning. :)

Wow.  Quiet isn't the word for the forum today!  Yikes.

I slept late, read, started the s l o w process of cleaning......decided to take a break and check my mail and AOL won't open it.  Blast.  VERY frustrating.  I really don't want to finish vacuming, but it really needs to be done so off to it.....

I'm still trying to wake up lol, mmmmm funnel cake I got my mama's recipe  think I'll go buy what I need to make some lol can someone tell mother nature to stop raining.

Ahhh Heaven.  Got  up muy late, tossed in some laundry, caught up on email and dogs and I had a nice big piece of COLD watty-mellun!!  *grin*

Luna LOVES cold fruit -- So does Billy.  tink is still trying to figger out the alure but hey -- don't SKIP her ok???

Not raining and not particularly hot.  All the furor of the 4th is OVER, and today is just a danged nice day to rest!!!
