Cricket, the diaper cat!! LOL

    Cricket, the diaper cat!! LOL

so cricket still needs to be expressed every day. after she was off her pain meds, she decided she didn't like staying in the ex pen anymore!! ( she jumped out of a 4' tall ex pen, with no tail and wearing a cone!! LOL)

so she was on bathroom lockdown, then I started letting her roam when we were home. Iknew I needed to figure out a diaper solution for her. at that time she was only incontinent with her feces. recently she's starting to drip urine. So after a few tried and failed attempts at diapering a cat, hopefully this is the solution!! I made her suspenders!! Shes wearing size 1 diapers ( lots of trial and error with diaper fitting too!!) they're for 8-14lb babies. cricket weighs 10lbs.  I cut a hole in it for her little nub tail ( she got it amputated on the 3rd).

So here she is in all her diaper glory, lets hope this works!!

Aw Cricket. <3 How is she handling the make-shift diaper? Also I know there's been issues with her health but I haven't kept up with it. What's wrong with her exactly? :-s

Oh kitty, your suspender are so cute, you look like a little lumberjack. It would be cute if you found plaid diapers then you could just say it's the latest cat fashion trend, all the cool cats are doing it. Nice solution to the diaper situation.

I think I might have missed the post also, what is Cricket's story?

What a brilliant idea for the diaper suspenders. Cricket, you're a lucky kitty to have such a loving and creative mom.

That was brilliantly creative!! diaper suspenders, I love it!

I, too, don't know the story behind her health but am sending lots of get better vibes!

my little cricket monster was hit by a car on May 14th. they ran over her tail damaging nerves that control her bladder & bowel functions.  The tail had to be amputated on June 3rd because it didn't work anymore ( was fractured) and it was in the way when we expressed her ( we have to squeeze her to make her pee).

She was my 'bed' cat, she slept with me every night, so thats why I choose to see if she would recuperate from this.  She has a 50% chance of recovering function. She's already been trying to use the litter box to go poo.  She recently has become incontinent with urine, so hence the diapering. I think her trying to use the litter box is a great sign.

although wearing the diaper would prevent her from using the box. so I've been splitting her time wearing them and being 'naked' and having access to the box. She loves to lay on the couch, I just want her to be able to do that & me not have to deal with cat pee on everything!!

She hates the diapers, but loves not being cooped up in the bathroom. She still hates being expressed everyday. she tolerates it for a bit, then starts throwing a fit.  So life has been different for us having her 'handicapped' and needing way more care.

some background on Cricket - she's lived with me for about 2 years, she came from my sister's in san francisco, she was an apartment cat. She loves living her, she never would venture far from the house. I don't know why she went out to the road that day, but now she's indoor only. :)

I need to maybe modify her suspenders, it's a little snugger around the neck than I like. It's difficult with a cat, they're very 'round' I guess you could say. Its hard finding a way to keep stuff on them!! LOL she gets out of everything!!

hoping she'll eventually acclimate to 'wearing' things!

Oh that's right. I'm sure it's a horrible thing to go through, for the of you. :-/ Hang in there Cricket!

I think it's amazing what you are doing for Cricket! (And I don't just mean her suspenders.) I second the motion for fashion ones, you could start a collection of kitten suspenders. I'm glad you've figured out a way to let her do what she loves, without having to worry about her incontinence. Here's hoping she will regain at least some function.

Just got my zorb fabric in ( it's a super absorbent fabric they use in cloth diapers), so I'm going to be making some cute kitty diapers!! She'll probably hate me if I pick a fabric with dogs on them LOL!! I have to use what I have in my stash.

and how cute is this elastic!?! ( no I don't have it, but I'm gonna look into getting something with a design lol)

Hi, I recently adopted a stray cat, who, we eventually found out, is incontinent. There's no way to trace what had happened to her/ what caused this problem. The vet seemed as clueless as we are. He tried a few different drugs to no avail and pretty much told us that it's something she will have to live with... I came upon your post when doing search for cat diapers, and, after reading about Cricket's conditions, I started to suspect that similar accident must have happened to my cat since she lacks bladder & bowel control and cannot raise/curve/erect her tail...

I was just wondering how Cricket is doing now and if she was able to regain her functions eventually and, if possible, what medicine or rehablitation was helpful in her recovery. Any suggestiongs or anything else you would like to share would be deeply appreciated. Thank you so much for your time. ( Oh, one more thing, love your loving and positive spirit! Cricket is a very lucky cat!)
