    Landrollers ( skates)

I've talked about these alot in other sections, but I think it should go here too.

I've had my landrollers for over a year now, I have the blue Mojo ones. I LOVE them. they are the most comfortable skate I've ever worn!

So lets see, if you already rollerblade, these are easy to use, just like rollerblades, but you have to get used to those wheels sticking out a bit int he front and back. It doesn't take long though. You can do the same type of turns, I even do 'T-stops' or hockey stops with them. i have to since I took the brake off. The brake just got in the way for me, when i'd turn - the technique I use would inadvertantly engage the brake. I haven't used a back brake like that since I was ten years old so it's no big problem.

I think the most asked question is 'are they hard to stand up in' because of the angle of the wheels, I know they look really funny, they look impossible to stand up in, but they are quite easy to stand in, there's not much balancing involved. They designed them very well!!

My skates have the stock wheels and bearings, they do sell faster bearings which I would like to get someday.  for now though, if I want to go fast the stock bearings actually provide more of a workout since I have to work just a bit harder than my typical skates. I think this would be a good thing for beginners.

i can't say enough about the boot on these things, they don't pinch me or anything weird like that. they just fit really well. i've always bought skates bigenough to wiggle my toes, I hate tight fitting footwear. so technically my skates a tad too big, but I can wiggle those toes no problem.

so just wanted to share, these are awesome for getting yourself, and your pups in shape. My dogs love going out for a skate, even though sometimes I get a free ride!!

my reasons for getting them were that my road is not perfect, with rollerblades any rock or twig can send you flying. I tried numerous times to rollerblade on my road with my old bauer hockey rollerblades, it was always scary!!

I have not had any experience using these in hilly areas, I always skate where it's mostly flat pavement.

they seem kinda expensive, but really it's the same price for a good rollerblade.

and here's a vid, yes this is me!! of the skates ( I filmed this usuing my olympus digital camera and a quickpod, so it's a funny point of view)

hope this helps someone who is researching skates!

Very interesting!  When I was young (yes...eons ago) I used to roller skate alot.  Several years ago, I bought another pair of roller skates with the intention of rolling around my neighborhood.  I did it a few times with Buddy; but the road here is not smooth enough.

I've skated before (very briefly) on roller blades...and did ok.  Hmmm...I may have to look more into these.
