Aw, he's such a cutie! Welcome to this site. Its a great place!

6 weeks is pretty young, but you can do it!  One of the greatest things you can do for him is to socialize him to lots of experiences(well after he's gotten his shots that is).  Though I wonder if its possible to bring him back to the breeder to play with the other puppies.  Not sure if you're close enough to do that.  They learn quite a bit from one another, so it might be worthwhile.  He's sure to be a beauty!  I love labs!

    Thanks again everyone. :)

Ewin - the breeder is quite close to me, but logistics would be a bit difficult because a medical condition prevents me from being able to drive, and it is too far for me to walk/carry him) so unfortunately it isn't really an option, unless I can arrange for my other half to take me on a weekend. He is, however, booked to start puppy socialisation classes the very day that he is allowed out after his shots take effect.  (At 12 weeks.)  Until then, I am introducing him to all the people I can to get the process started, though I know that doesn't replace interaction with other dogs.  I will just have to hope that it all turns out ok.  He has met the workmen who were ripping up the telephone pole outside my house (turned out one of them keeps labs!), the nice owner of the little pet store down the road, about a dozen kids, a woman in a wheelchair, etc etc.  He has also enjoyed the few car trips we've taken and doesn't flinch at either the washing machine or the vaccuum cleaner, though that may come from having been a home-reared puppy.  All in all, he seems quite unafraid of everything and I am somewhat taking advantage of that.
