    JQP and breeds

I have been scanning posts and came across some of the "Your dog is a XXXXX stories"  I find those hilarious.  Here are some of the ones I have had occur.

The first doberman, Morgan, was walking in our neighborhood and a little kid ran up to see our "Shepperman Pincher".

Reggie, the natural eared red dobe, being walked in the neighborhood.  "Hey lady, why did you cut the tail off your chocolate lab"  And at a UKC obedience trial, while getting ready to go in the ring,  " I really want one of these long nosed red Rotts."

Abbye, the malinois, someone asking where they could buy a minature German Shepherd.

I know there are others out there [sm=rofl.gif]

One time, in the parking lot near Petco, a guy who happens to fancy wolves and seeing Shadow initially from about 60 feet away, asked if he was a wolf. Shadow does resemble a timberwolf, at times.

I get told constantly that my Smooth Collies are Greyhounds or mixes of greyhound and Shepherd.  When I tell them it's a Smooth Collie, they say "Oh, greyhound mixed with Collie.  I see it now!"  [>:]

With my last blue merle smooth, several people asked if he was an Irish Wolfhound.  No resemblance at all, and I'm still trying to figure that one out!

I am very curious to see what people think my new little white Smooth is "mixed with".  I'm guessing that people think she's a white GSD.

My favorite is still the cashier at PetSmart that TOLD me Smidgen was a pit bull mix, because of her long nose.  (1) she's a smooth collie and (2) who thinks pit bulls have long noses???  When I told him she was a Collie, he argued with me.  Apparently I don't know what my own dog is!

Yep.. I'm always asked where I got my Toy American Pit Bull Terriers. I've been told I own a Rockwilder. When I had Borzoi, people thought they were long haired Greyhounds, malnourished Collies or when told what they were, they would always say "A what?!".

Emma has been mistaken many times for a Pit Bull (WTH? She weighs a whopping 17 pounds, when she's chubby!), an Australian Cattle Dog, and a Beagle. I'm still not really sure where any of those came from, aside from ignorance. A freakin trainer thought she was an ACD mix, and I've had one woman who HAS JRT insist that she was mixed with ACD. Ok, whatever, lady....

Everybody knows that Teenie is a Weenie[:D]

I've said this before, but people have told me that Roscoe is at least part Rottweiler. Do you know why they insist this? His eyebrows.  Yep, you can tell he is part Rott 'cause he has brown eyebrows on a black face. [&:]  And of course I always get Dalmation.  One guy asked me if he was an Irish setter. What??? [8|]
    • Gold Top Dog
I think Roscoe is a piebald Dachshund. Yep, the eyebrows, and coloring prove it. Weenie dog![;)][;)][;)]

Hahaha!  Gotta love people and their eagerness to appear to know something!

I had a weimeraner, and I had WAY too many people call him a rottweiler.  WHAT!?  I love it when they would then mispronounce rottweiler, "rockweiler" or a "watt-weiler"  [sm=uhoh.gif]

People have asked if Nikki is a mini-doberman.  I guess that's at least close [:-] ..??

One guy asked me if he was an Irish setter.

    OMG![sm=rofl.gif] That guy needs glasses.

Despite living in an area flooded with Labs, mostly used for duck hunting, people still ask me if Brown is a lab. Then I always get, "Hmm...he looks so much bigger than the real labs." Real labs? As opposed to fake ones? *sigh*

I also get a lot of "Are they from the same litter?" questions when Brown and Grey are in public together. Apparently, people see some resemblence in the two that Brett and I don't see.

My child in her younger years thought the greatest hoodwink would be to have two Schkipps and a Groendahl (belgian sheepdog to the AKC) and tell folks the schkipps were the parents.

    Sense of humor that girl

Everyone thinks April is a Shiz Zu and she has been called a Llpsa Apso (spelling, sorry) also.  She is half Maltese/half Pekinese, so I call her a Pekatese. [;)]

Apparently Crusher just looks like a wolf.  I blame it on movies because they are always using huskies to play the part of wolves.  I even had one woman indignantly tell me that my dog should be pts because he was dangerous, while he was sitting at my side looking confusedly at her lab who was pulling and snarling on the end of his leash. "You know wolves will snap at any moment and you won't know what hit you."  Then she turned to her dog and smacked him in the head. Ya lady, at least you know everytime your dog flips out so you can smack him around a bit more.   Grrr.

I'm afraid mine are rather boring. Most people know what a Beagle is [:)] BUT when you walk with a red & white Beagle you sometimes get blank stares...or "is that a basset hound?".

When I had Akitas it was more entertaining..."Japanese bear dogs, Japanese fightin' dawgs'..."GSD, Saint Bernard, Norwegian Elkhound, Spitz, Wolf, Husky, Malemute"...hehe

I had a lady ask me what Rory was
I tell her she is a pit bull.
She says: oh pitbull and lab?
I say: no American Pit Bull Terrier
She says:  wow, I've never seen a lab mix that color of red
    I......gave up
