Ok, this is my last post to this thread...apparently there are people here that have no clue what its like to be in a situation like I am, where you can not have your dog in the house, and therefore are only going by "what they have seen" about dogs being tied out. And apparently, they are only looking at the "bad" things with these dogs other than the good....like my grandfathers dog that is tied out, and is used to stand watch -notice i didnt say guard- over his biuldings. Or like my dog, that had the worst possible life for any dog in the world when he wasnt tied out. But, enough about that....I was originally going to post on the "behavior issues" that being tied out causes....let me see.....I have had dogs, all my life...I grew up with dogs.....all total, my family and I have had many many dogs....most of which have been tied out. NONE of those dogs, not the German Shepard, the Chow, the Doberman, Rotteweiler, Pitt Bull, or the countless muts have EVER had a behavior issue. i have a 6 year old daughter, and am more than comfortable letting her play with ANY of these dogs. But, I do know of a few dogs that do....like my neighbors dog....she keeps the dog in the house all the time, except to potty. And that dog is terrified of people. Why? Because this is a "housedog" a dog that doesnt get outside unless it has to shit. The dog runs barking and growling at any person or animal it comes in contact with, and even her owners will tell you its because she isnt a "social" dog. And a friend of mine...she has a rather large dog. Always in the house...again, unless it has to potty, and the dog has absolutly no idea what a real dog should do. It sets in one spot, or lays behind a chair, when people walk in...because it is not socialized. Now on to the kennels.....I know a man that is a very prominent business man in our town. In fact, I am buying a horse from him. Anyway, he has mega bucks, and lots of property...all fenced in. However, he has his Boxer in a kennel. Beside the barn...away from the general public, and the publics view. This poor dog only gets fed when I or one of his helpers does, it , and is NEVER let out of the kennel. He has no toys, nothing soft to lay on, and very little shade.
Now...a dog is not subject to behavior issues just because of where you "keep" it. They are subject to behavior issues because of how they are raised and treated.
This law is ignoring the dogs i mentioned in this post that are "housedogs" or kept in a kennel, and is targeting those of us that do love and care for our dogs, but dont have another option. Like I said before...that is a form of prejudice, and NONE of you hypocrites on here can argue with that!
