Cole is finally here! And I have to say, the rescue I got him from is what resuces should be. The woman I picked him up from was very dog-savvy and knew about dogs, was for spay and neuter but not pushy, and dedicated to finding good matches. She actually liked placing Cole with me because I already have a dog and she wants all her rescues to be well socialized.
So Cole was born at the local pound with 5 other littermates, and the babies were taken from mom at about 4 weeks and placed in a different cage. Unfortunately the euth rate is about 85% in Lemoore, which is mostly rural and rampant with BYB's and uncaring owners. The pound is also maintained by local prison inmates on a work program, so they don't have the best of care. So when Kara (rescue owner) was at the pound picking up other dogs, she heard these pups before she saw them, as they were being hosed down with cold water by one of the inmates. They were sick and malnourished, and she picked them up immediately to save them. She has had them for four weeks, and I am happy to say three other puppies were picked up by their families today.
For anybody who wants more info, the name of the rescue is California Underdog Rescue and Education - CURE.
Ok, and now the picture!
