Sunday chit-chat

Look out people...I'm a HarleyMama over the next few hours.  We are hitting the road (figuratively speaking).  Big Smile

    Go Tina!!!

I'm exhausted from yesterday.  Bev, Cher & I met a friend, her gsp, & vizsla at Enchanted Rock for a hike.  We ended up talking & hiking for almost 9 hours.  We had a great time, but, today, it is glaringly obvious that we overdid it, & didn't take in nearly enough fluids throughout the day.  I took Bev & Cher, both of whom are moving very slowly, to a friend's clinic so that she could run a bag of IV fluids into each of them.  Cher was less than impressed by the situation, but they are both feeling better after getting fluids in.  Now, we are curled up on the couch relaxing for the day.

I had planned on taking Shooter along, but changed my mind at the last minute.  I'm so glad that I left him at home.

The fertilizer I put down on Friday is definitely watered in now

Speaking of fertilizer - the lawn maintenance guy just rang our doorbell at noon on Sunday wanting access to the backyard so he could fertilize it.  Asked if it was safe for animals "oh, yeah, it's safe"...My sister asked to see the packaging for the fertilizer and it has a warning about no contact with humans or pets, so she refused to let him into the yard.  He argued that was just for cats.  She replied "well, it says pets and humans."  Then asked whom he made his arrangements with to just show up on a Sunday - nobody.  She informed him he needs to make arrangements for weekend "service" in the future.

PS, my W key is not working right, so typing the above was a bit of a hassle.

I layed out yesterday and got a nice smattering of burns that have mostly browned over today, but when the sun hits them, they hurt.  It is sooo gorgeous out, too... I don't wanna wear long sleeves and pants, but I want to be outside.  Hmmmm... sunshade chair it is, I guess.

I didn't read any of yesterday's MC, but from Tina's post above, I hope Willow is feeling better, or on the way to feeling better.  Gracie woke up with her ear all cocked to one side yesterday.  I washed it out with Epi-Otic and gave her some K9 aspirin (thanks dog.com!) and by the end of the day she was holding it normally.  The day before she was all flat and mopey when I took her to Lowes.  I am afraid it's an ear infection, but she seems back to normal today....

Tina, yay on the nice long phone call... don't forget to let him know when you're ready to actually go on a date.  :)

     Yay Tina!

Karen, did you get some liver treats for your fetching?

I am dealing with one super overtired toddler. She got up at 4:45 and wouldn't go back to sleep this morning. Now she's so overtired she won't go down for a nap. Ugh...

I just finished weeding the flower garden that goes all the way around my deck - phew, it's hot out there! FH just cut all the grass and now he's out there with the trimmer, trimming around the flower beds - my yard is looking good! Hopefully with this hot week that is apparently ahead my grass won't grow much LOL - there are about milllion other things I'd like to be doing besides yardwork today. Having a large yard is nice and all but not too into maintaining it.

Weird day -- David's working and I spent most of the afternoon updating that huge Index for the IMHA thread (when you have a thread that is just under 200 pages it's tough to make sense of it.!)

Then dogfood (everbuddy wants to help wif that!!)

    LAUNDRY (it never ceases)

Think I'm gonna get David to go to Shrek tonight.  I definitely want to DO something this weekend besides just sit and do house stuff.  now to find a theatre that is NOT *3d".

Ugh.  It is 98 here and HUMID! The AC is on again for a few hours.....lovely tho...the front unit quit working.  So, we are using just the rear and blowing the cool air up front with fans.....somedays you can't win for loosing!!

While we were walking dogs, DH failed to shut the bedroom door.  So, guess who got to run to the laundramat with bedding this morning???  He did offer, but.......am pretty certain that I know which PITA peed on my bedding too.  Will have to make sure that I check the door from now on MYself.  Geeze!

Didn't win the powerball last night either.  Battting 1000 here today!

But, I'm going out shortly and hop in the pool.  It's a decent sized pool.....12 foot above ground and about 4 feet deep, so I can cool off nicely in that.

This is me dealing with the spit that happens and being able to laugh as I clean it from out between my toes......Tongue Tied LOL!

um no - but honestly I do think this is what he understands 'fetch' to mean LOL

Lori as often as he steals DH's reading glasses, magazines, books and newspapers - you may be on to something.  Perhaps he does read?

Paige I think all fertilizer has warnings about contact but once it is watered in its OK.  Our lawn is/was in desperate need, I generally don't like to put anything on it due to B's grass eating tendencies.  But I don't worry now - we just had another heavy downpour/storm roll through - truly enough rain now - really enough

Jano rumor has it I was a nightmare toddler that wasn't interested in sleeping - my mom says she used to literally hold me in a sleeping position when she knew I was overtired - I would fall asleep quickly like that BUT left to my own devices I would not sleep.

I checked out a new Middle Eastern market today and got some goat for B to eat.  He seems interested Stick out tongue

All the rain means I didn't get to golf this weekend and I really wanted to - bummer.  I have a new club I wanted to try

OK that is all must consider what dinner will be

We had bought some Scott Turf Builder that specifically said "Child and pet friendly" on the front, and it did not have the same warning as the other package the guy brought today.  I guess it's the difference between fertilizer and fertilizer WITH weed control. The stuff they brought was Turf Builder with weed killer - hence the warning (?), hence no application on our lawn, thank you very much. lol

From the US Dept of Heath & Human Services: http://householdproducts.nlm.nih.gov/cgi-bin/household/brands?tbl=brands&id=19026127  Particularly with Henry having some sort of hacking fits the last two days, the last thing we need is respiratory tract irritation, sore throat, sneezing, etc.

I need to get back on the bike... it would be perfect right now to ride the bike to the park and play w/G there...

We took the Harley out to Lake Conroe and enjoyed a cool beverage for an hour or so...just 1.  Very nice sitting on the lake, watching the boats, watching the people.  Home now and about to hit the pool.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Late to the thread. I got up early with a massive headache so went back to bed till noon. I never ever sleep that long!

Got up feeling better and hit the ground running. Just got back from retilling the garden. Now the rest of the week mother nature needs to be kind so I can get the rest of my stuff in. The salad we had for dinner last night was sooooo good.

Off to make choc. chip cookies for my farm hand, it was his price for tilling in the HOT sun today.

    Have a good day everyone.

I broke down and turned on the AC. It's just wrong to have the AC on this early in the season.

I spent the day at the beach with my best friend. I. am. so. burnt! ouch.

Went to a baseball game last night, although I don't like baseball much, I don't mind going TO the games. Our team lost - but almost pulled it together at the end!

I also... may, or may not have, created a very unintentional, awkward situation with one of my guy friends..... If anyone wants to hear about it - shoot me an email or PM. Not something I should discuss on a public forum! ha

Tina, glad to hear about the guy friend!

Glenda, sending you lots of crossed fingers thoughts.

Lori, sending good thoughts to Willow, too!

So I spend the weekend looking at apartments, and I think I found one that does the trick. Super convenient location so I can stop home for Rascal during the day, and - get this - FENCED YARD. Teeny tiny one, but hey, Rascal's a teeny tiny dog.

    This is the yard:

Cute, right? That's really the entire extent of the yard - it doesn't go beyond the edges of the picture - but again, that's fine by me. The apartment itself isn't as nice as I would like, but I think the mini-yard makes up for it. It's the bottom floor of a 2-story old victorian house, and the top floor is occupied by some guy and his son.

They didn't have the lease documents ready for me before I left town, and they did say they wouldn't take it off the market until I returned the lease (and the security deposit), so fingers crossed that I can actually go through with renting this place...!

The yard looks like it would be great for Rascal.  Fingers crossed that you get it!
