    You're such a southern belle!

It's grown on me...since I moved here. Kinda like a fungus.

This weekend is always a little screwy since we have a lot of b-days to celebrate too.  We have my nieces party on Saturday night (she's turning 14).  So Saturday morning I will be cooking for that (my sister has cooking issues LOL).

On Sunday we will probably head over to my mom's house to bring her flowers and card and stuff.  Sunday night I will get to pick what I want to eat - which will be Thai Food.  Monday is Riley's birthday party so inbetween everything I need to get some shopping done and finish up prepping the food for the party.

Oh, and I mailed a card to DH's mom - which I might add it is really hard to shop for a Mother's Day card for a woman who couldn't give a rat's patootie about her son.

Happy Mom's day to all the moms out there!

I sent my mom a card and a burt's bees hand repair kit.  She likes gardening so I know she can use it.

MIL died last October so DH will feel it a bit but UK Mom's day is in March so that was worse for him

No two-legged kids, two adult step kids who celebrate in March

But DH always gets me a card and a little something from Bugsy - he's not into cute so this is always extra special to me.  After the TPLO and aftercare I think he ought to be buying me the Subaru I want ha ha ha

LMBO and totally agree you earned that Subaru!!

Tina, that was nice to have your son say that to you about the hard growing up years.  :)

Yeah, it was.  Sometimes he surprises me in good ways.

Karen, yes, I think you deserve that Subaru, too!

I forgot to mention that I was on the phone with my BFF last night and she read me the card her daughter sent her. It was absolutely beautiful and every word of it was true. We were both puddled up when she finished reading it. They have one of those amazing mother-daughter relationships that many people dream about.

Tina - I think what your son said is a testament to what a good job you did raising him. It's nice that he shared that with you.

I put my request in for Mother's Day months ago. My 3 boys (well, young men) will become 'IRON CHEFS' on Sunday. One is studying culinary arts, one is a butcher and the third just loves to cook. All three claim to be the best cook so the challenge is on. I am expecting a culinary extravaganza!

My mom has been gone for 10 years, but I am so not cooking anything on Mother's Day ... actually I am so not cooking on any day that I can weasel out of it with somethng already prepared from somewhere else. Big Smile  I might take a run to IKEA and snoop around their garden/lantern/candle section. Breakfast?  I think I might sneak off to Noahs and snag a cup of coffee and a toasted pumpernickel bagel w/light cream cheese on the side.

It cracks me up because my oldest, 9...will ask what stuff costs at the restaurant and make sure to point out when something is "buy one get one free" and we look at her and say..."Lily...EVERYTHING is free for you...you're a kid!" and we just crack up when she goes "Oh, that's right!"...lol.

Sunday I'll be up at 5am, leaving at 6am to arrive at dog training at 8am.  Then will probably train til about 3am and then 2 hrs home.  I called my mom yesterday to feel it out and she said nothing is planned, my parents were going take my grandma out but then my aunt called and said they'd already invited her over for Sunday dinner.  My other grandma (mom's mom) died in January so it's just as well with me that I go to training and avoid everyone.  I have problems with not grieving properly (I distract myself so I don't have to think about it).  Our nuclear family doesn't really "do" birthdays, Mothers Day, Valentines, etc. So I'd send a card but it's so not like me or my family it would probably get laughed at.  I bought my mom a brand new computer for Christmas so as far as she and I are concerned she's good to go on presents for a longlong time!  I still haven't paid that one off.
