Aw... He just won't stand still

I have seen some very nice pictures of dogs here, unlike mine, which have him looking away or blurred because he always makes a movement before I take the picture. I have thought of using 30 second movie mode so at least one of the frames is good, but it is hard to sort through all the frames. Are there any tricks you use to get good pictures of your dog without them turning their head or going away?

When I want a good head-shot ;pic, I hold a treat right above the camera [:D], otherwise, I try to get shots where Maddi is holding still.

LOL Carry a camera with you every second of the day, and whenever you get the chance take a pic.   Make sure you have tons of film and batteries.

These are both good ideas. A dog will always look at a treat and follow it with his eyes, so not only do you get a dog standing still, but you get a dog that looks at the camera. As for the second idea, I just got a new phone which happens to have a camera on it. That's good because by the time I get my camera out the dogs usually out of the good pose. Thanks!

I always seem to get them sleeping.  That makes it easy.  I also a lot of times will just take lots of pics of them when they are playing and I usually end up with some really cute ones with them looking at the camera or in a pose and some that are just like the ones you said you get.

Um, the other option is take pictures of your dog sleeping. ~L~  I've taken more than my share of sleeping dog shots. ~L~

You could teach him/her the "watch" command.

Edited to add: Sometimes you don't want the dog looking directly at the camera because you'll get the green or blue eye reflection from the flash.

You said 'Green' or 'Blue' eye. I get a lot of 'yellow' eye. I wonder why dogs don't get red eye, but get different colors.
