    Thanks Bev

DH & I were supposed to be having a romantic weekend.  We had a nice ride down last night, & were having a nice time this morning, but Bevo decided that he needed us home a little sooner than planned.

Today at around noon, our petsitter calls, with Bevo screaming in the background, to tell me that Bevo has just had something happen to his eye while they were playing in the yard, & that she was taking him to the e-vet. DH & I grabbed our stuff & made a flying trip home. (The two hour drive took us an hour & twenty minutes today.)

The e-vet saw something wrong with Bev's eye, but couldn't tell exactly what it was without knocking him out. They knocked him out & found that something was stuck in & through his cornea. The e-vet on duty was afraid to try to remove whatever it was, so he called an opthamologist who works at a clinic close the them. The opthamologist was kind enough to come over, even though he was seeing patients, to check Bevo's eye. He pulled out, what he believes to be, a bee stinger from Bev's eye.

Bev has an ulcer on his cornea from rubbing on his eye like a fool while he was being taken to the e-vet, but otherwise, he is doing fine. He recovered from anesthesia with no problems. It's obvious that his eye is hurting, but he's happily snuggled up next to me on the couch.

DH & I have came to the conclusion that Bevo cannot be left with others. He seems to have "accidents" when we are away, so from here on out, he can come with us.

When DH & I went on our honeymoon, he hit a tree head on fracturing his scapula, some ribs, & setting off our journey into wobblers. Last April, we went to Vegas for a long weekend, & he ripped a pad off. Today, he got stung in the eye.

    I love this dog!

OK, Amanda, I am regretting my offer to watch your boys, or dogs, anytime...just a little. Not taking it back, per se :)

I hope he feels better, and that the three of you have an incredibly romantic remainder of the weekend, ROFL.

with Bevo screaming in the background,

I would have had a flippin' heart attack!

Glad he is doing OK now.

I'm sure he's happy that he will get to be the third wheel now too!

Oh no Bevo...I'm sending you some get better vibes and prayers.  Don't be scaring your momma like that.

Of all the places for a bee to sting...the eye gets it!  I bet you were going crazy when you heard Bevo in the background.

Aww, poor Bevo! Is he on benadryl or anything for the itchy swelling? Give him some loves for me

LMAO!!!  My DH said something very similar.  He also gave Bev a new "R" rated nickname. Tongue Tied

I came very close to a heart attack, Lori.  Bev is a stoic dog.  Aside from when he was being a jerk as a puppy, I have heard him scream out in pain exactly one time, & that was when he ripped a dewclaw off.  When I heard him screaming, I was very close to a freak out.

Stung in the eye?!?! Ouch. Thats gotta hurt!

I'd be a wreck if anything like that happend to Bailey. That one & a half hour drive must have seemed like years.

I hope his eye gets better quick!

Wow that would be terrible!!! At least he was taken to the vet and they were able to locate and remove the stinger. Hope Bevo gets better quick, good luck!

Bevo -- that's going a tad far for attention.  You silly boy -- I am also not gonna let you play with Billy - you might give him ideas!! *sigh*

     OMG!

Lots of healing vibes coming your way!!

Oh Bevo!!  Get better soon Buddy.  That must have been scary.

Had the vets ever seen anything like that before?  That has to be the strangest place ever for a bee to possibly sting.

I hope his eye heals soon, Amanda.  Sending good vibes for your "special" boy.  lol
