Canine car hammocks?

    Canine car hammocks?

Since my car interior is light tan and Casey's fur is mainly black (smart idea on my part [sm=smack.gif]), I was thinking of getting a car hammock like the one here: [linkhttp://handicappedpets.com/seatcovers/seatcovers.htm]http://handicappedpets.com/seatcovers/seatcovers.htm[/link]

Does anyone have any experience with these things? I drive a small car and have a large dog and don't want my car to get very hairy.  Casey sits up in the car but moves freely (the seat belt thing didn't go by her very well).  Is this worth it or does anyone have any negatives with it/ should I just get a seat cover instead? Thanks for any ideas!

We also have a hammock like this and it was very useful for us. One of my dogs doesn`t like driving in the car and she sometimes had to throw up, but with this hammock it was easy to clean. The only problem was that it seems to be "slippy" for both of them when I drive into sharper bends so now we also have a blanket over it.
And cleaning the hammock from hairs is much easier than trying to get this huuuuugee amount of hair off the backseat itself.

I do not have one of these but I have also thought about getting one.  I currently use a blanket to cover the seats but it always manages to slip around and doesn't do much good.  Plus, if I put it on wrong, I get all the hair from the last ride all over my seats!  [:'(]  If you take your dogs in the car enough I would definately look into it!  It will mean you can have other people ride in your car without them being covered in hair when they get out!

I have one in my Audi (a sedan)...I love it! Marley just lays down and I don't have to worry about hitting the breaks!

As far as the shedding...(mine is black on tan too) it is much easier to clean it off of the hammock, but the hammock usually has quite a bit of fur on it!

Does said hammock have any sort of safety devise to KEEP the dog from being thrown about in the event of an accident?

Glenda I think its meant to be used with a seatbelt.  I think Casey needs to get used to wearing one anyway.  If my child did not want to wear a seatbelt, they would anyway.  Same goes for my dogs.  Although my dogs are crated in the car, so a seatbelt is secondary and only used if we go in a little car.

Does the hammock have holes for the seat belt to slip through it?  I have thought about getting one, but my dogs always wear seat belts and I didn't know if they would work with the hammock.
