Wednesday small talk

Mr. W and I will have to postpone our St. Patrick's Day antics until after I take Jamison to the vet this afternoon.  While giving him scritches last night, I found this red, swollen bump in the armpit area of his left front leg.  I'm really hoping it's nothing, but I would never be able to forgive myself if I was out frolicking when something was going on with him.

Anyway, the newest nightmare from this last storm is now everyone's carbon monoxide detectors are going off due to the incessant running of the water pumps.  Last night, the Fire Department responded to the house across the street from me and they sent the wife away in an ambulance.  They had their truck lights on for about two hours - so another night of no sleep for me.

Tina, I thought I heard somewhere that this year's census only has 10 questions.  Is that true ??

Deb, I didn't actually count the questions, but it was short, esp for me, who only had to answer questions for Person 1.  I think it was name, date of birth, race, how many people live in the house.  There might have been another, I can't remember.

I got an app on my iphone which is supposed to wake me up when I'm in a light sleep so that I don't feel exhausted. It's supposed to wake you up within a half hour window of your set time.  Both days I have used it so far, it has gotten me up while I was somewhere in a deep sleep. I am never in a light sleep within a half hour of my time to wake up. That, in addition to only getting about 6 hours of sleep, is probably why I am exhausted today.

I have a sinus funk now. Lovely.

I just registered for my professional educator's test - $150. Good thing I swindled BF out of that money. Now I just have to PASS. Failing a $150 test is a bad idea, and then they charge you MORE to retake it. Ugh. Too much pressure.

Fingers crossed for a good vet visit for Jamison, & a successful visit for Otis.

My back is hurting this morning.  It was cool last night, so I built a fire in the fireplace & was sitting in front of it, relaxing, with the dogs.   I woke up this morning, still in front of the fireplace.  I learned, from this experience, that I have 3 loyal dogs, & 5 who prefer a nice soft bed over sleeping with me.  I woke up to Bev, Boo, & Cher still snuggled up next to me.  Everyone else went upstairs to their respective sleeping areas.   

I am working from home today.  It's beautiful outside, so I'm not sure how much 'work' I'll actually accomplish.

I just discovered that no more than 5 minutes from where I work is an Indian Restaurant. I thought NONE existed around here and I had searched, but apparently they don't show up in any searches. I'm so so so happy. If I had to chose one type of food to eat forever, it would be Indian. Now, hopefully, when I try them out they're at least decent!

I must have missed something, but am sure sending out good thots and prayers for your son!

Maybe I'll just fill out the census form and get it done today.  Mine arrived yesterday as well and I haven't even opened it.

This year's census is short.  No more long forms.  However, BF is determined to not answer any of the personal questions.  He says, Why does the census need to know all this info?  All they should be asking is how many people live in the house, so he says that's all he will answer for us.  If they come to try and get us to fill in the rest, he says he won't do it.  The penalty is $100 fine.  Big whoop.

We got a detailed census before, now a short one yesterday.  The most "personal" questions were about income and work info - address, what time I leave, etc.  The gov't already knows how much I made from my taxes, so what do I care if they see I'm poor again this year?

I am unimpressed by people who rain on the St. Patrick's Day parade of fun.  It's a fun day!  I wish I had a good enough reason to take off the entire day and drink my face off in a bar all day, as is traditional. lol  But I don't, at least not here.  But I am going out tonight to have fun and whiners can stay home.

Neiko got a bath last night. He was getting pretty stinky. He loves the doggy dryer so I spent about an hour with that on him. Now he's mr poofty! I should have taken pics. The rest of the dogs are also due for baths...

I have either an icky cold or mondo allergies right now. I can't tell. I took allergy meds yesterday (Zyrtec) and they didn't seem to do anything, so I took Day-Quil today, and it doesn't seem to work either. Meanwhile I have crazy sinus pain and a non-stop runny nose. Why is my body going crazy??

It's lovely weather here today. Rascal is on squirrel watch, staring attentively out the window. I told him that it's his job to snuggle with me when I'm sick, but he said he has more important things to take care of. Little snot.

I got word that my grandmother died last night. I'm sad, but it really was her time. She was more than ready, and she went peacefully. However, I suspect there will be a lot of resulting family drama, since she inherited all of my grandfather's things when he died many years ago. Our family is not known to resolve such things easily. I really hope everyone (primarily my step-mother) behaves themselves respectably.

I'm sorry for your loss.  Grandma's are the best !!
