    eye boogers...

My one year old german shepherd is a very healthy boy, but every morning he has these huge, white eye boogers in his eyes. I usually just wipe them out with a wet napkin. I am just curious if there is any way to prevent them? He used to suffer from allergies, but he's been looking really good these past 5 months...

Sounds like just "sleep" in his eyes.  My shepherds have that some mornings too and I don't know of anyway to prevent them.

My GSDx has those too.  We just wipe her eye boogies off.

Sadly, the first thing I do in the morning is wipe eye boogers...especially Grey's because his are always crusty. Man, I need a real hobby.

Hi all, I am new to the board.  My Bernese Mountain dog puppy has eye boogies but all of the time not just in the morning.  I am always wiping her eyes.

Odie used to have eye boogies all the time.  Then, I learned right here on Idog, that Eukanuba is not a good food, so I changed foods.  End of problem.  Was it coincidence?  Dunno and  YMMV.

Pofi never really used to have any regular ocular discharge (I was trying to avoid saying eye boogers - but you know what I mean), but since bringing Mia into our home, they both have it and not just in the morning.  It's a bit less in terms of VOLUME then it was a month ago, but still, I keep thinking trading something back and forth.  No change in diet or treats for Pofi, so that's not it...(he's been eating California Natural and Barking at the Moon - low or no grain).

So I'm part of the eye wiping crowd first thing in the morning now, too....but it seemed to start with adding Mia.

Wesleys' were pretty bad (he had conjunctivitis twice, but even when he didn't he had eye boogies all the time) and then we switched foods.  The decrease is about 75% - I was surprised - but it really made a difference.

I'm a morning booger wiper too.  Although, now that you mentioned it, I changed the boys food last bag.  I just got a different formula of Canadae.  I just noticed that Grady's boogers are smaller & both his & Aspen's coats are soooo much sleeker.  It's like they both just had baths.

Me too! I wipe goobies out of Marley's eyes every morning. He sits there and looks at me with a goofy look on his face while I wait for the water to get warm...

sounds just like sleep buggers too me...  People will get them as well if you have to much heat in the room... if it is just too stuffy...
