Mindless Sunday

WOW this flooding is really bad.  We're north of all the big problems.  A damn to one of the reservoirs 20 minutes south broke!!  A wall of water was heading to the town my friends live in - they were being evacuated - 7,000 people had to get to hight ground!  Hope everyone is safe!

I made cornish hens for dinner tonight, Cody just loved having his own little chicken to pull apart - it was a fun dinner!  And roasted Chicken is Cody's favorite meal - he is such a pickey eater in general!

My BIL had to get out of his ground apartment after moving all his furniture upstairs to his neighbor who is also the landload and friend he will be staying the night at my MILs.

I will check back with a flood update later.  Our basement is holding its own with just a bit of water so far.  Fingers crossed.

Trying to catch up on everything (sorry if I miss someone): I'm sorry to hear about cher! What a rotten little dog. Hopefully she heels up quick enough. She has enough skin problems.

Tina, neiko and abbie seem to have kennel cough too. I have no idea where they would have picked this up. So far sunny and lily aren't sick but abbie and neiko are actually coughing up and spitting stuff out. I am crazy busy tomorrow too but I guess I will need to get a vet trip in some how.

Jackie, so glad to hear charles came home for a bit. I'm sure that is somewhat of a stress relief. I will call and check on ya this week!

So neiko passed his level one sar test! Yay. We had training camp up north all weekend and we took our test sat morning. This weekend was great for both of us. Lots of stuff learned and the weather was pretty great for north western mi in march!

In other good news, sunshine was evaluated by 2 different trainers today and they both said she is fine. Just needs more work. So I am going to work on a training / socialization goal for each week for her (and all my dogs) and see how it goes. We start "rabble rousers" class this thurs. Thank god for the extra light each day!!

I went food shopping and they didn't have the apples I like or the fat free feta--everytime I really like something they never have it.   Then the microwave died.  The roads are very flooded--the pump is doing well in the basement keeping that OK--if it dies we will flood too.  The river next to my dads building is waaaay up and he's worried it's going to flood the building.  LOVE New England.

Willow is on the couch snoring away.  Angel

Friday night our company (that BF & I own) hosted a skybox at an Atlanta Thrashers game for some kids from a local charity.  The charity is a live-in facility for some extreme disadvantaged kids (basically, kids who have such severe problems that its their last shot before being institutionalized for their entire lives, and they have an 85% success rate which is phenominal IMO).  15 kids from the facility, who had earned this trip as a reward for good behavior, came to the game, as well as some adults from the charity, and BF and our friend/coworker (both of whom play hockey) taught the kids all about hockey.  I didn't go, but BF said that the kids had an absolute blast.  The adults from the charity said that the evening was probably the highlight of their entire year.  I told him we should try and do this at least once, if not twice a year for them, and next time I definitely want to attend as well (I was too wiped out to go to this one).  It was great listening to BF tell me all about it.  I could tell he had a great time with the kids. Yes

      I heart this!

Thanks, I do, too.  A trade organization we're members of has this facility as their "pet charity," and our salesguy has really done a lot for them.  He was able to get the Thrashers mascot to come to their holiday party, and has organized a bunch of lobby events selling discounted Hawks & Thrashers tickets in high profile buildings in downtown to raise money for the charity's reading program.  Every ticket bought gives $5 to the charity.  He's raised almost $1000 so far!  We're very lucky that we have a good relationship with the Atlanta Spirit, who own the Hawks (NBA) and Thrashers (NHL) that they've worked with us on the discount ticket program, and they've donated prizes (autographed basketballs, hockey sticks, etc) for raffle items.  It's awesome, and I do regret that I wasn't able to go to the game Friday, but I will definitely be at the next one!

Amanda, you know I have to say this on behalf of some toy dogs.  Not all of them are furry monsters.

Annie, no worries.  I know that not all little dogs are "furry monsters."  I seriously doubt that the little dog that attacked Cher was a "furry monster."  The dog can't help that it's owner is a moron, & can't manage it properly.

DH & the boys landed safely, so I can stop worrying about them!  YAY!

I have a clean house & very tired dogs which is very nice.

Last night one of the roads I needed to come home on was flooded, so I had to turn around and go back around the long way, and another that I needed to get on to get to where I was going for a meeting was almost flooded out. We had to take turns going so that you could ride through the middle of it. I am not looking forward to tomorrow when I have to go back into NJ. Hopefully I can get to where I am going.

I took Charles back and got home and played with the pups for a little while.  Feeling a little sad but it was great to have him home for the day.  The dogs were looking all over for him when I came home without him.  Sad

I hope everyone in harms way of the flooding rain stays safe and doesn't suffer any serious damage.

I was brushing the Chow boy out today (going to bathe him tomorrow after work) and noticed that his hair coat on his back end is really dry and very thin.  I'm wondering if he has a thyroid condition or allergies or something. He doesn't really seem to be itchy, aside from once in awhile chewing his back feet..but that's a few and far between thing. Never scratches or anything...

I think I may run him in tomorrow or Tuesday for a blood draw.

The lad says I'm overreacting, that it's likely just shedding or our dry house (our house is very dry..but not "affect a haircoat" dry), but it just doesn't seem right to me.

LOL, it must of been brush out the chows night!  I did the same thing.  Willow has similar coat conditions in certain areas but she's much older than Aesop is.

Can Panalog be used in the ears?  The vet told me but I can't remember--I think she said it was fine.
