Staffordshire Bull Terrier - Help Needed Please!

We have just re-homed a six month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier Bitch.  She originally came from a bad home where she had been abused.  She has fitted in really well over the last couple of days, the only problem is we can't seem to get her to go and do her business!  If we actually take her out on the field she will pee for England, and this morning she had a poo in the yard, but she won't pee in the yard and she hasn't poo'ed since.

She has never pee'd in the house so its not that, she is definitely house trained, but we just can't seem to get her outside to go.  Can anyone offer any advice please?  We can't keep taking her on the field which is a 20 minute walk just to do her "business".

    Welcome to the forum!!

I have found with my dogs(Am Satffs) that they are prone to go where they are used to going such as in a fiels, by a bush/tree or on pavement(kennel situation)
My specials dog will not go when we are at a show unless he is in an X-pen or at a bush.

Try different areas and give commands like "do your business", "Go potty" and pretty much just keep working on it until it clicks [:)]

Ok thanks will try that.  Have been stood outside with her for ages today, have tried "have a wee", go "ta ta's" lol but so far nothing.  Poor girl must be bursting as she's drinking loads because she plays with our other Staffie and they've been on the field and that, do you think it would help if we perhaps bleach the yard, to get rid of our other dog's smell??  Sorry to make our first post a little on the odd side!! Thats funny cause my girl is a shy pee-er too. I remember taking her outside when we first got her and waiting for her to pee. I would wait forever, she wouldnt go and 2 minutes later she want outside. She started to get very stubborn so one night I said "we're not going in until you pee, I don't care if we're out here all night" I picked up the tennis ball and started bouncing up against the house, toatlly ignoring her. i don't know if this took the pressure off of her or she figured "well as long as we're out here" but she went. For the next WHOLE MONTH I had to pretend I was out there just for fun, ha ha or whatver, I just had to not focus on her. She would slowly make her way over to the corner.....all eyes on me and go "in private" I guess, ha ha but hey it worked! and then immediatly we would go inside!

I'd say try to catch her in the act and as soon as you see her doing it praise her.  "Good potty!!!" and give her a treat.  That way later when you're trying to tell her to "go potty" she'll have something to associate it with.  Just be sure to use the same command everytime.  You may have to take her to the field to be able to catch her in the act the first few times.

    Good luck!!

SBT post a picture please I love the breed, my Simba is a painfully shy pee-er and poop-er, he will hide and make sure no one is around before he goes if he catches me watching him he will stop lol [:D]

Maybe just dont openly watch her, peek through a window thats what I used to have to do, GOOD LUCK!!!!

I just posted this in another area but I forgot to mention the bell trick. When Rpry was a pup I hung a bell right by the back door and before we would go out I would grab her paw and ring the bell, she was reluctant at first but after about a week she had me playing door opener. It stimulates them too!
