Does your dog sleep through the night??

lgoetz... I too want to know if there is a brand on that dog house.  Did it come in a bag or a box?  I have a kmart near here and although I don't always look, I never saw it.  If you know a brand or anything to help me spot it, let me know.  it is adorable!

Max sleeps through the night now that he is in my room. When he was in the crate, he slept through the night, but got up really early. Then he started getting up during the night, not because he wanted to go out, but because he wanted to get out of his crate and sleep on the couch with me (when he got up earlier than I wanted to, I would take him out and then we'd sleep on the couch-very bad idea). Anyway, I had let him sleep with me on a few occassions, or had stayed on the couch with him, and he always slept later, so I started having him sleep all night with me. Now instead of him getting me up, I have to get him up in the morning.
Millie sleeps all night in my parents room, but in her own bed on the floor right in front of theirs.

I've always taken the advice of my first child's pediatrician "He's not sleeping because he's not tired."  I apply that same advice to the dogs.  Any healthy, living being, child or dog, that has enough activity, food and water during the day and evening will be plum tuckered out and will, therefore, sleep.  My two dogs get their short walk in the morning, as I'm home alone with them then and it's darn hard to walk the two of them very far without having a nervous breakdown.  Their LONG walk is in the evening, followed by playtime in the house.  When bed time comes, they don't stand a chance of staying awake.

My puppy has been sleeping through the night for quite a while now ( she's 5 months) and Cassidy always does. Though occasionally she used to want to go out in the early morning hours sometimes.

I would suggest giving your dog lots of exercise before bed to tire her out, and I would agree with using the crate too. Maybe have her in it during the day periodically ( not very long if it's not necessary for her) to get her used to it, but at night I would say to just let her sleep the whole night in it, provided she's had excercise, etc and doesn't need anything .

Toby use to sleep through the night no problem. And I continued to assume that he still did. But recently, I have found shredded kleenex in the living room when I wake up in the morning. Apparently Toby doesn't sleep through the night and wonders to do other things. But I've never crated him. And he doesn't bother me when I'm sleeping during the night....so I guess its ok.

The only time my dog will not sleep all night is when she has a bladder infection, could this be a problem with your dog?  Does she have to pee?  I'd check out other health problems with a vet.

Yeah I agree a health check is a must and also if you try wear her out before you go to bed a late night walk or a game of tug of war?

I have never had a problem with Simba and sleep when the light goes off he is snoring before I even get in bed lol [:D

Kaleshea, have you had your dog thoroughly checked out at a vet recently?

She was at the vet Feb 1. for a check up, but that's that last time and everything was great. I guess I know that the problem is that she is just not tired. The thing is she is getting the same excercise as when she used to sleep through the night 2 months ago. Last night we went to bed at 10:00 and she was sleepy, then woke us up at 12:00 because she was out in the kitchen looking out the window barking at something (probably just our horses that she knows are there) so I put her in her crate until 6:00 when she wanted to get up and come to bed with us. I let her out and then at about 6:45 she left and went and cuddle up in her crate for the day. She loves to sleep in her crate and will sleep in there all day (because we're at work). Sometimes at night she will leave just to go sleep in her crate because she's sick of us kicking her on accident. She is also litter box trained and goes in the box maybe once during the night, if that. My new rule is if she gets up once to get a drink, or go to the box, and comes back to bed, fine. But if she gets up that 2nd time and doesn't go sleep in her crate by herself, then I put her in and close the door. Do you think this will work?

Max doesn't always sleep through the night, but he doesn't bother anyone when he wakes up, either.  Sometimes he hops off the bed and sleeps on the floor.  Sometimes, if it's hot, he goes outside and sleeps on one of the patio chair cushions.  Sometimes he just gets up to pee and get a drink of water. The funny thing is that he stays on the bed until I'm out of the shower and then he goes tearing down the hall ahead of me, even though the bedroom door is opened when DH gets up and he knows he can leave if he wants to. It's a good thing (for Max) that I'm not a *stay in bed half the day* person.[:D]

Boss sleeps sometimes longer than I do. Gracie is getting better about it now too. She was getting up at 4 am to go potty every morning and then would go back to bed. She would pee on the foot of the bed if I didn't get up to let her out. She spent a couple nights in the crate after that and haven't had a problem since. Now when she gets up in the morning she comes and throws her body across mine to let me know she really needs to go.

No. My dog does not sleep through the night. Not even if he has had 2 walks, gone to the dog park, and walked around the mall with us all day. I think he may be nocturnal (Heh, Heh). Regardless, it's annoying. We have to crate him. But we would like to phase out the crate.

Sara sleeps alot in the day time after her walks. And then at night time I have caught her snooping around my room seeing what she can get in too. I think they know if you are sleeping or if you are not. So just like with a kid they want too see what they can get in too / get away with... Now Bubba my boston terrier he is old so he sleeps alll the time...
