    Chattin' on a Friday (TGIF)

Cita, I'm sorry to read about your grandmother not doing so well, in addition to the grad school issues.  My thumb is healing, thanks for asking, though I'm sure I'll have a nice little scar!

Amanda, sorry it didn't work out with the beach house.  Guess I'll cancel my flight.

Jackie, nice to see you floating around here for a bit!

I saw the first robin of the year on Tuesday.  99% of our snow has melted and now we're going into the spring rainy season.

Otis is obviously a little dumb.  He ran after Missy the cat again this morning and Moose got him again.  The little weiner is lucky the cats don't have front claws.

Well, at least I know why DS#2 has been so sick all week and the meds the dr gave him weren't helping. We spent the night in the ER to find out he has pneumonia and mono...

Ugh, that stinks, Susan.  Hopefully he will be on the road to recovery shortly.

    Pneumonia AND mono?  sheesh!!

I got some new dog handling shoes last night.  I'm not too keen on the color but they were so absolutely comfortable I had to get them.  I've spent probably 8 months looking for shoes.  I have joint problems so I'm very picky, plus I have wide feet with no arch.  Most shoes are out because of the joint problem, then of the few remaining, most are so narrow I cannot get my foot in even if it's the right size, or the arch is so high it feels like my foot is breaking.  This is the first shoe of this style (an athletic mary jane sort) I've ever worn that not only does not feel like I'm being stabbed with every step, but actually feels good.

Why is it that all the weasels work in purchasing?!?  Not saying that everyone who works in purchasing is a weasel, but it seems that where all the weasels are!

Really, you are that concered about my supplier's $1000 annual invoice when it is not even .000000000001% of this company's monthly budget.  We have wasted more money discussing it then if you would have just paid the stupid thing which you will in the end anyway!!  URGH!!!

O man !!!  Ouch  . . . . stay away from those cats, little buddy.

Well it's supposed to rain cats and dogs all weekend.  Jamison will be SO happy since he's afraid of the rain.

I guess I'll just stay in and cook up a storm.

((Courtney))  I'm so sorry.  Gentle vibes coming your way from me & the boyz.

Wow, Susan.  I had Mono & it was no fun.  I can't imagine that paired up with pneumonia.  Speedy healing vibes for your boy.

    That is all...

I have been a big ball of stress lately.  So much so, that it's making me sick :(

Tomorrow I have to make devilled eggs for 60 people, how many eggs should I do?  Then go to my friend's 2nd baby shower.  And Derek's friend is staying the night Saturday night because he's from out of town.  He might stay over tonight as well, I don't know, and the house isn't as clean as I would like it to be.  BLAAAAH.

On the good hand, I have finally continued plannign stuff for my wedding.  I sat down with Derek this morning and wrote out a list of what still needed to be done, and now I have appointments booked, deposits paid and questions answered.

I still need to phone the winemaking place and figure out pricing and whatnot.  blaaaah planning

I would do 60 eggs - that gives each person 2 halves.  That would seem about right to me.

Thanks, Tina. Such is life, right? Glad your thumb's healing up!

Susan, your poor kiddo! He must feel like poo! Great that they caught it, though - best wishes for a speedy recovery. I had mono in college and didn't even know it until I was almost recovered, but man oh man was I tiiiiiiiiired all the time. I would sleep 10-12 hours EVERY night, and had to take 2 breaks getting myself up the stairs to my 5th floor dorm room. Other than that, though, the affliction passed pretty much without incident. I hope it is equally easy for your son!

Deb, I drove through Jersey yesterday and thought of you. Primarily as I was cursing idiot drivers on the Turnpike and longing for a 2x4... Surprise

Which brings me to my pet peeves of my last couple of days:

    1) If you are driving along on the freeway, and there is space to the right of you and no slow cars in front of you, MOVE OVER and let people pass!!

    2) If you are driving at or below the speed limit, and there are more than 2 lanes on the freeway, you should NOT be cruising along in the FAR LEFT lane. Holy gawd, people. Just move over!!

    3) If you would like to pass me, I am more than happy to pull over to let you do so. However, I can't do anything if you try to zip around me to the right. That slow car in the right lane that you are tailgating so furiously? That's the one I am passing. As soon as I am done, you can go along around me, but you have to wait until I physically *can* move right. Which will be in 5 seconds, as I don't have a rocketpack, and need to wait until I am ahead of the car to pull in front of it. So chill the F out!

    4) Fun fact: I can't go any faster than the cars in front of me. SO DON'T TAILGATE, IT'S POINTLESS AND DANGEROUS. Jeebus.

    5) Please look before you change lanes. Just a little look. I do not appreciate you trying to move your car on top of mine because you're too lazy to check your GD mirrors, so let's save us all a lot of hassle by you NOT crashing into me, mmmmkay?

    6) Trucks - due to your size, you need lots of space to brake suddenly. You, of all vehicles, should really, really not be tailgating my small little sedan. If I have to slam on the brakes, I know your engine is going to go through my eyeballs, so please allow a little more following distance. See #4!

Phew, glad to get that off my chest!!

The NJ Turnpike is the bane of my existence.

Courtney - LOL and I totally agree with all of your driving pet peeves. I drive a long stretch of road each day and the speed limit is 45. It's 2 lanes in each direction and you'd think the slower cars would just stay to the right but no, they tend to stay right beside each other the entire stretch. OMG, it makes me absolutely crazy.

Man, I am sooooo glad it's Friday. It's been a busy week and I have a ton of work to catch up on and not much energy to focus on it.  I know I'll feel better if I can at least make a dent in it, so off I go.

I learned my best "defensive driving skills" on the Jersey Turnpike.... it's the high speed version of Manhattan.  Still, nothing beats Boston and outlying areas.  NOTHING.

I'm sorry about your grandmother and your BF's grad school situation... sucky things to worry about, because you have no control over either one, but they'll both affect you tremendously.  In Tarot, this is like pulling the Hanged Man card - you get strung up through no fault of your own.  Ugh.  Hoping some good fortune comes their way...

Good vibes and hugs and chocolate for everyone having a tough day.

I'm running on 4 hours of sleep after the exam last night and getting up at 5 to drive my sister to the airport... yet she wasn't ready for an extra 1/2 hour beyond when she said we'd leave.   I really could have used those minutes in bed, but, whatever... I am surprisingly PERKY today!  (Heard about something called Perky Jerky - caffeine infused beef jerky - on the radio this morning... Random connections.. YAY!  And only 1/2 a cup of coffee so far.)

Hahahahahaha!  Clearly you've never driven in Boston. Cool  Although, admittedly, I've never driven the DC Beltway, just been a passenger in a bus on the way to a Save Darfur rally.  George Clooney... mmmm.. ok, back to work!
