• jeano Posted : 5/16/2006 1:57:54 AM Not a new thing in Alaska. They aren't very effective. Fun yes, but pretty useless. There are just too many of the little critters. You'd end up with Popeye arms if you swung at every mosquito outside. Heck, you'd work up a sweat, get to breathing heavily and attract more mosquitoes than you could EVER swat. For one thing, they'd be all over YOU. Mosquitoes are attracted to two factors, CO2 and body heat. They go after the dogs like crazy. But it doesn't take them long to find a person, either. I have fun sucking flying insects into the vacuum cleaner when they get into the house! I have a little mini vac that looks quite a bit like R2D2, and I use him all the time. • magilacudy Posted : 5/16/2006 5:57:57 AM I have one. The are actually dangerous. Do not let your kids play withthem because they will get a shock. As a joke I told my mother to touch it and she almost fell out of her chair. PLUS it doesn't work that well because you bat at the bugs but it doesn't always get them. And if you have a fly or something on the table, this thing isn't flat like a fly swatter so it doesn't hit em. It's more work than a rolled up newspaper or fly swater. Oh and did I mention if you touch it it hurts. It's not good for you to play around with it either.
