    Mindless Chatturday

9:45 and nobody has started this yet? Wowzas.

Nothing to report! Except that Willa was up six times last night, plus I was up 4-5 times to pee, and then she got up before six this morning. zzzzzz Sleep

Well this morning I did one of the most difficult things I think I've ever done. I attempted to give myself a special haircut. Seriously, I can't even SEE that area well, even with a mirror. Blood was shed, the nurses will laugh silently to themselves. But, it had to be done.

To make you feel better... one of my favorite funny stories:

I was due later that week for an appointment with the gynecologist when early one morning I received a call from his office: I had been rescheduled for early that morning at 9:30am. I had just packed everyone off to work and school and it was around 8:45 already.

The trip to his office usually took about 35 minutes so I didn't have any time to spare. As most women do, I'm sure, I like to take a little extra effort over hygiene when making such visits, but this time I wasn't going to be able to make the full effort. So I rushed upstairs, threw off my dressing gown, wet the washcloth and gave myself a wash in "that area" in front of the sink, taking extra care to make sure that I was presentable.

I threw the washcloth in the clothes basket, donned some clothes, hopped in the car and raced to my appointment. I was in the waiting room only a few minutes when he called me in. Knowing the procedure, as I am sure you all do, I hopped up on the table, looked over at the other side of the room and pretended I was in Hawaii or some other place a million miles away from here. I was a little surprised when he said:

"My...we have taken a little extra effort this morning, haven't we?" but I didn't respond. The appointment over, I heaved a sigh of relief and went home. The rest of the day went normal, some shopping, cleaning and the evening meal, etc.

At 8:30 that evening my 14 year old daughter was fixing to go to a school dance, when she called down from the bathroom, "Mom - where's my washcloth?" I called back for her to get another from the cabinet.

She called back, "No - I need the one that was here by the sink. It had all my glitter and sparkles in it."

Most likely an urban legend, but I bet one based on some sort of truth! Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile

Jan - I'm pretty sure that attempting a haircut like that when you're as pregnant and tired as you are might be hazardous. I'm glad you didn't hurt yourself more seriously and I'm sure you did a great job ;)

I woke up at 1 AM and tossed and turned. Finally fell back to sleep and then someone's car alarm went off. Then DH got up for work at 5:30, so I'm really fighting off the urge to go back to bed. Sassy keeps looking at me like "really, it'd be okay if we just sleep a few more hours". I'd prefer to get some cleaning done though but I'm 100% sure that I'll need a nap later.

Is it strange that I always look forward to having a day or 2 alone when DH is working but then when he actually leaves, I feel sad? Confused

Sunshine is getting adopted! Wohoo. By a great family too. We just need to process their app (home check, etc) and then we are good to go. They already have an aussie named thunder, and are willing to work on her issues. Sunny was totally fascinated by their 15 year old. I think she will bond to him the most. They seemed to have a connection. Anyway, yay!

Had happy hour with friends last night which was so fun. Need to do that more often. Of course I couldn't sleep after tho. Too wired btwn booze and the sunny news.

Today is looking to be gorgeous out. Thank you jan for giving me a good laugh to start my day!

Julie - Congrats on finding a forever home for Sunshine. I know it must make your heart very happy.

I was watching a ustream of a lab in labor yesterday afternoon and last evening. I got up this morning and figured I'd see a bunch of sweet puppies but instead saw the owner saying that there'd been problems. 2 pups were stillborn and they'd rushed the mom to vet to help with the rest of the birth but were worried about her also.Sad

    Yay, Sunshine!!

Hang in there Jan, little Sonja will show herself soon.  And be careful with those special haircuts, ouch!

So, took Sammy to the vet for his annual checkup this morning.  Saw a vet I hadn't ever seen before.  Don't think I'll be asking to see her again.  She was nice enough and everything, but was appalled to hear I give my dogs RMBs.  She suggested I give, instead...get this...nylabones.  Hmm  Ummm, whatever lady.  The boys will be getting their Sunday afternoon turkey neck no matter what you say!

In case anyone's wondering, her concern was a choking/blockage hazard.  I explained that they are never given bones unsupervised.  Ugh, it just really turned me off her ever seeing my dogs again.

     Yea for Sunshine!

And yea for sunshine!  Beautiful day which led to me doing a WHOLE lot of gardening.  I am cream crackered = knackered= very tired LOL

Laugh for the day.  Early this morning Bugsy was pointing in the yard for ages, eventually I went out to see what was up.  No idea.  But he was so worked up he was whining. Finally I saw a mole tunnel BUT it was just outside his e-fence area, thus the whining.  So tonight he was out guarding the steaks (a self appointed job) and then he ran to the back of the yard and went very still. Head cocked. BANG!! Got himself a mole Big Smile In an area close to the tunnel from this morning so likely the same one. Payback ha ha

That is all I am hoping to be awake to watch UNC v Duke.  Pulling hard for UNC but they are really overmatched.

Heather that would put me off that vet too. One of ours lectured me about giving B raw some days - whatever

The vet here said I should stop giving Gracie RMBs because her back tooth (or maybe teeth) were chipped and that may have contributed to her canine that looks weird.  *sigh*

I have a headache... writing for almost 4 hours is tough on my head.

    Yikes, Jan!

    YAY for Sunshine!!!

I had a really good day.  A friend/trainer evaluated Cher today because we have ran into some issues recently.  She gave me some great suggestions, & reaffirmed some things for me.  I am planning on giving her a month off training & instead work on building drive, & focus.  After her time off, I think that we are going to drive to Dallas to train.  I think that she will do better with a TD who is used to working dobes, & we don't have that here.

Once we finished the evaluation, we decided to take her out for a "socialization" trip.  We went to the flea market, because, lord knows you see all kinds of people there.  Cher is turning into a total snob.  I had at least a dozen people come over & ask to meet her, when I agreed, she ignored them completely.  She just sat there looking up at me as if to ask "why are they bothering me?  I'm too good for this."  That's my girl.

The offer was presented this afternoon and the seller has until tomorrow at 8pm to respond - talk about pins and needles!

Today I got to meet and work with a potential replacement for my position after the move - she seems really nice!  Still weird tho to help find my replacement lol.

Tomorrow I have a local dog trainers' forum meeting and then afterward am planning on going hiking with a trainer friend and her dog at a local state park.  We're taking a trail that'll put 3.4 miles under our feet - the day is supposed to be gorgeous, so I'm super psyched.  Nothing quite like a good friend, good conversation, a beautiful day, and a new hiking trail to explore!!! Big Smile

It was a nice day today. River did well at puppy class.  He does a much better loose-leash walk than all the bigger/older puppies there.  I am saddened that he doesn't like the off-leash socialization time because the big puppies trip on him.  He uses it as a time to schmooze treats from their owners instead.

I saw a friend that I haven't seen in quite awhile.  It was great catching up with her.  We had lunch and went to see Alice in Wonderland.  I really enjoyed it.

Trying to catch up on a few loads of clothes now.  Dogs are tired from spending some time at my grandparents house.  Likely overstuffed as well.

I'm jealous that I don't have someone who will go on hikes with me!  We usually go alone.

Hey Moonlight, you're about an hour from Winston-Salem, right?  If so, I'd be happy to hike with you once I move up there! Smile
