So Buster Cracked his nail about a 2 weeks ago. It has slowly gotten worse with play and his "ADHD". I decided by this point it was due for a vet check. The top of the nail had cracked right above the quick of the nail (though it never bled at all) and there was maybe a space about as thick as a quarter between. His appointment was bright and early this morning. I had called friday to get him in but they were horribly booked that day so I had wait over the weekend. Well even earlier this morning we had some bad t-storms roll through with severe lighting. Buster got mad at them and started running around at 2am barking at the lightening. In this time the top of the nail decided to come on off somehow. So when i woke up this morning i was like 'what the hey'. But I bring him in and doctor gives me some antibotic cream and tells me the nails going to eventually fall off because the quick is exposed. And if the nail turns black bring him in they will take it out themselves.
Poor dog! She didnt want to have to resort to pulling the nail but if need be then it'll happen. Wow. I knew it was cracked and not the best condition but I didnt think the whole nail was gonna fall off! It doesnt seem to be bothering him what so ever so thats the good thing.
