Tipping

Tips usually buy me lunch for the day. :) I always pack a sandwich though just in case.
I remember durring chritmas time, the "tips" we would get weren't actually money, they were equivilent if not better! Cookies, candies, gift cards and thank you cards for our wonderful services durring the year.

I would definitely give a buck or two as a tip.

I have always tipped the groomer 20%. The groomer thinks Tobys an angel but I still think a tip is necessary.

I would Tip...  I use to work at a groomers. And most of the time the people that do the nail clipping are not getting paid that much. Atleast where I worked... Don't get me wrong the groomer made a lot. But in her shop the (bathers) witch  is what I was...  did  most of the work...

I used to not tip. I had asked my friend who has yorkies she takes to the groomer and ask her if she does and she told me no since the prices are so high. Higher than a person's haircut. She is a beautician. I do tip whoever cuts my hair. I thought about it and decided for myself that I would start tipping the groomer. Gidget has separation anxiety and they have to put up with her crying while she is there and I think that alone deserves something extra despite that I could get two people haircuts for what I pay for hers.lol. Last time it was $35 which is still cheaper than Petsmart.
I gave $3 each the last two times. Not even 10%. They have a little box on the counter that has the sign "tips" on it. It's always empty. I guess they empty it so no one will take it while they are in the back.
Gidget has improved here at the house and also at the groomers. I always asked about her behavior, leave several phonenumbers for just in case she is giving them a hard time.

Groomers charge more than hair stylists, because groomers do a lot more than hair stylists. We trim, file, and sometimes paint toenails, on four feet. We clean ears, bathe the whole dog, and cut the hair. We clean up pee and poop, vomit and blood. We are bitten, scratched, and have gross things sprayed and excreted on us (ever gotten anal gland juice in your EYE? It's pretty vile!). The dogs do not sit still for their hair cuts. They dance all over the table, most of the time, and sometimes it requires two or three people to get the job done. It takes an average of 3-4 hours to brush out, bathe, and groom a dog. It's back breaking work. They do not want to be there, and most of them misbehave in some way.

That said, I love my job. I'm not qute sure why, LOL!

When I just go for a nail clip I don't tip, but for a full groom I tip at least 20 %. I used to work at the exact same groomer I go to and I never received any tip, so the owner( who does nothing, but supervise) must get that money. I wasn't a groomer just a bather so maybe the groomer gets tipped.

I most definitely will tip more next time I take Gidget in. I guess I never thought of how much work goes into this..but it makes sense now that you described it.
I am always very happy with the way she looks. It's the first dog I ever had that needs to go to a groomer. It was really hard for me to leave her there the very first time. Even now I can't wait to pick her back up. I know it's silly.
