Tipping

    Tipping

Are you supposed to Tip the groomer at Petco?  I had both dogs in for nail clips in today.  Shakespeare was a beast there but Sophia went without a problem.

Befor I used to do my own grooming, I used to tip the groomer no matter if my kids were beasts or angels. Just a me thing.
It is up to you whether you want to tip or not. If you were treated great, tip is good, if you were treated Poopy, no tip from me either. lol

I always tip the groomer around 20 percent.

I tip a groomer as well as I tip my hair dresser.  I look at it this way, they are performing a service for us just as a hair dresser or a food server - they deserve a tip, too.

When I'm paying for a service, and that person's technique, effort or personal attention "makes the difference" I always tip, and usually pretty darned well.  I tip my groomer 20% or better.

Then again, she's awesome with Billy.  He's happy and loves her, she does an awesome job (I've had the best compliments from others on how smooth it is) and often his skin has been super sore and she's wonderful with him -- we have to keep the coat short to help keep the skin clear.

My major beef lately has been after a new owner took over this place (it's not a 'chain')  and she has a "tip jar" -- and wants you to just add your tip and they  "split" it.  No -- I want HER to get it.  I tip better than average and it's not for someone else.  But for HER.

I tip my groomer.  They always do a good job, and they do a lot.  Maggie gets a bath, hair cut, nail clipping, and tooth cleaning.  Plus, they are very good to her, Maggie has some bad arthritis, they atre very gentle with her.

Good job + Great service (for the dog) = Good tip

Thats how i see it anyways[:)]

I always tip.  But,  I will tip extra based on the reports I get on her behavior and also how she looks.  There are times when she looks extra good and they get more on those days.

    Thanks for all the opinions.

I was just wondering because (at least at my local Petco) they give you the bill and you pay at the main stores register, so I wanted to make sure the groomer got the tip, not that the cashiers drawer was over and it just went on the books as being over.  Maybe I should slip the groomer some $ next time, and see what she tells me to do with it, or if she just says thanks.

I always slip it TO the groomer.  That's what I was sayinga above - if I like a groomer well enough to tip them, it's MY relationship with that groomer I'm enhancing-- not the general 'kitty' or pot for everyone.  (or the person on the till pocketing it)

Oh oh I'm a bad person.   I've never tipped the groomer.  I use to use a very pricey lady and felt her prices were high and probably included the tip.

I think you are correct though in paying  the bill at the checkout but give the groomer her tip separately.

If you go to a groomer, who owns the place, do you still tip?

If you go to a groomer, who owns the place, do you still tip?

    I still do.

I tip whoever does the grooming/bathing. .  If two seperate people do it, i give them each a tip.  It shouldn't matter if they person owns the place, or if they are just an employee, they did the work, so if you do tip, you should tip them.

I better get my husband to start tipping me.....

...If we went to a groomer, I would also tip,,it's just like the hairdressers isn't it?
    • Gold Top Dog
Yup, *just* like the hair dresser. Groomers live on commission and tips:)
