Mindless Chatter Saturday

Wow, just wow is about all I can say.  My thoughts are with the Chilean people as they deal with the horrific aftermath of the earthquake & with the residents of Hawaii & others who might be in the path of the tsnuami.

G & I had our last reactive dog class today.  I have to say that he totally rocks.  We mostly are working with distractions & he kept his brown eyes on me for 99% of the time.  The ony time he didn't was a failure on my part.  I let him make eye contact with a 15 month old Saint who is also dog reactive. (and twice his size)  If both Zeus' owner & I didn't have quick reactions it could have gotten ugly.  G is now snoozing away.  I'm so proud of my boyyy.

Continued good thoughts for Jackie & Mr. Jackie as well as Agnes, Tiki & Haille.

The cherry  blossom trees are in full bloom! Its so nice to see bright pink trees at the end of February, but because of this Tootsie is  already shedding her winter coat. Her rear end looks awful! Big clumps of grey hair and I can't go outside to brush her because its raining. Low maintenance coat, my foot.

I heard that the cherry blossoms were out in Vancouver.  Unreal.

I have spent 11, count them, ELEVEN hours at the radio station.  Starting at 6:30 this morning.

    I'm whipped.

The cherry blossom trees here are in full bloom and there's quite a few around here, including one in our backyard, so it adds a nice bit of color. Yesterday when I was almost home, 2 bright rainbows appeared. One was really solid and the other was more subdued. People were actually stopped on the side of the road and taking pictures.

This morning we had a big squirrel in our backyard. We never get any wildlife around here, other than birds, so it was a nice treat. The tail was longer and fluffier than the whole body. Thankfully the dogs didn't see it and only smelled it when they went out later.

The hubby, my mom and I went to see the new Bruce Willis movie this afternoon.  It was pretty good, funny!  My mom doesn't drive and since my dad passed away last October doesn't get out as much as she used to.  I think she enjoyed going to the theatre!

We don't have cherry blossoms out here yet, but I did see daffodils sticking up out of the snow in some places.  Spring will be here soon.....I can't wait!!

Where is everybody today? I hope everybody is ok. How was Hailie's vet visit? Has Meaya showed up?

Tiki and Agnes feeling any better?

I saw on Jackie and Charlie's thread that he's doing well. Awesome!!

Cathy, I will ship you all of my squirrels if you'd like :) they are pesky little critters!

I can't believe any place has actual flowers blooming already. Seriously, we still have 3 ft of snow! I'm jealous. I did notice this morning though that the goldfhinches at my feeder were looking a little brighter around their heads and necks. The males must be coming in to their summer color. That's a good sign!

8.8 quake. That's crazy. With all these big quakes going on it has to make you wonder if the u.s. won't get one too soon. That or the yellowstone super volcano will errupt.

Tiki is OK - pretty sore I think. I'm crossing my fingers that Dr. D (the acupuncture vet) can see her on Monday - she's a 'new patient' so it's not likely, but I can hope. Thanks for asking!

I had a whole bunch of tabs open, I'm trying to figure out which state exam I need to take. I opened a new tab for BF to mess around with while I was cooking dinner, and he closed ALL OF THEM when he was done. Gaaah. Also, it looks like the test I need to take is $150. Awesome.

Hailie seems fine thank you everyone!  Our Vet wasn't on today and we saw a visiting vet, she took some fluid out and says it looks fattty.  She also said that it moves and isn't attached which is also good.  She recommended we come back Monday and been seen by our Vet. (also the surgeon) to have him look at it and give us his opinion on removing it or not.  Shes concerned on two levels, if we don't remove it - it could attach, especially where it is located it would cause problems with walking and pain.  She also said these types could also turn mialignant and  if we remove it we can have it tested to be sure.  Anyway, we are breathing easier now and wait to see what Monday brings, I really don't like the idea of having her put under for any proceedure, Pugs struggle even worse than other dogs but we will do what we have to.

I spent the day at the ski slopes with my DS he just loves snowboarding and got to go on all the hills today big and not so big.  Then we went to dinner and had a 1 hour wait, for get that!  So we went to another place and waited 30 minutes Sad  We just wanted to eat and get home to our Hailie, she was pretty tramatized from today and to boot we stopped and had her nails clipped.Devil

I'm going go watch the news and catch up on the tusnami and eathquack updates.  Thanks again for wishing Hailie well!

ETA:  The Vet also said she has seen these things develop in days that maybe she had a small one we didn't notice and all of a sudden it grows rapidly.  We are so sure that it couldn't have been there long - not that size, we just know we would have seen that lump if it were there for any lenght of time.  I swear it poped up overnight - probably not possible by it is so obvious to us now.

OMG- I was blown away by the new sectional when I got home yesterday. It's way better than I imagined and it actually makes the room look larger than it did with just a sofa in there. I don't understand how it worked out that way, but I'm so glad it did. This is in our formal living room/dining room and now DH likes the new furniture in there so much he's trying to devise a plan to put a big screen tv in there. Um....I don't think so.  We now finally have a place where can have more than 2 people over and they won't have to sit on the floor. Yay!!

The same thing happend when my sectional came.  I think because the show rooms are so big you don't get the real feel for their size.  I paid mega bucks for a Flexsteel, I was tired of disposable furniture and wanted some thing that would last.  That was 9 years ago and it looks and is a firm and sturdy as the day I bought it.  I love it and it looks wonderful in my LR - HOWEVER, I am getting tired of it and there are so many beautiful sofas.  Now I wish I bought a middle of the line sofa so I had a reason to change it up.Huh?  My DH says I am going to die on that couch before we buy a new one, the same thing I tell him about the "have to have", Ford F350 diesel he bought 6 years ago.  I remember him telling me that it would last for 500K miles and I said - you better believe it and not ask for another cause your tired of it!  He rubs it in my face all the time when I bring up wanting a new sofa.Crying

All my prayers for all the puppers who need it today!!

    Fingers crossed that Harry behaved!

Glad to hear that Hallie's lump is nothing major!

Way to go Annie, & Grady!!

I want a homemade blueberry muffin recipe!

Cathy, congrats on the new sectional.  I'm so glad that you like it!

Meaya is still missing, & my younger brother is getting closer & closer to losing it. Today, the daycare that lost her, called him to ask for payment for Thursday. The day that they lost her. He blew up on the phone, & said some things that he probably shouldn't have. It wasn't pretty. Bevo can't find a scent for her now, so we are just walking around in hopes of getting lucky & spotting her.

On a happy note, we had a really good day at our club obedience match.

Cher won the puppy class. Her heeling was spectacular, as was her recall, & long sit & down. Her figure 8 wasn't spectacular, but we'll work on it & make it better.

Bevo won the Veteran's open & utility. I feel terrible about running him, though, because he's exhausted. He did great in both classes but it was obvious that he was tired. He's usually pushy, & bordering out of control because he's so excited. Today he was mellow. He's never mellow. EVER. He has been out searching for Meaya since Thursday, & he's spent. I don't know that I've ever seen him truly tired before, but he is tonight. I'm going to rest him tomorrow, & see how he's feeling.

DS#2 & Brinxx placed second in the junior obedience class. This was their first show, & I was amazed by them. DS#2 has been Brinxx's kid since the first time she met him, & it was amazing to watch her work for him today. DS's footwork is terrible, & he was, at moments, totally lost in the routine, but Brinxx stayed with him the entire time, & did everything that he asked of her. By the time they came out of the ring, I was crying. I hate it when I get sappy.

Then there was Shooter. Yeah....that's about all that I'll say. We didn't get last in his class, but we were really close. He was in full blown jackass mode today.

Both Cher, & Bev got collars for their wins. Brinxx got a jumbo bully stick for her second. She was thrilled to get to chew on it while DS & I worked on reading tonight.

I am looking forward to a lazy day tomorrow.

Dang I wish it was NEXT week Tuesday -- I'd give you both of my evening appts.   But I don't have one this week sowwy.  But if she has to go back I'm MORE than willing to share that appt with you (I had a standing one for Kee and Billy -- and I can tell Barbara to hang onto it for Tiki if you need it -- wow -- both of us there at once -- whoo hoo!!!)

Had to go to a birthday party, so no dog baths today.  My dogs aren't really doggy smelling, the little ones just tend to get into things. Aesop rarely has an odor, his baths are just for loosening his undercoat so that I can blow it out, which really cuts down on any shedding. Grimm is good about avoiding stinky things and doesn't shed, so his baths are few and far between.

    • Gold Top Dog

River gets bi-annual baths, December before Xmas and the spring- right before summer, other than that rarely.  Brooke has never had a bath and she will be with us two years.  Hailie maybe has had one or two in 5 years because she rolled into something smelly or yucky.
