When i was a kid spending summer here my grandad(suffering from diabetes about the only thing he enjoyed was bird watching) had humming bird feeders all over the front porch. after he died no one put out the feeders anymore - no one lived here until we moved back with my grandmother four years ago -
last year(i think) i happened to be walking through the living room when i saw a humming bird fly up to the window on the back side of the house.. hover.. then zoom away. and a few weeks after that i saw one on the front porch buzzing around one of those crystal balls (the prism type that throws rainbows all over the place) apparently it thought that was going to be a source of food. i bought two humming bird feeders after that. one for the front porch and one for the backyard. you can sit on the park bench and watch all the neat little birds come and go.... and as i speak i'm getting twitchy for spring to get here lol this is the first time in years i'll be GLAD to see the backside of winter!! i want to see my birds, and baby deer, and the little squirrels.....

I can second the red color. One day last year I was outside enjoying the sunshine and the next thing I know I have this little flitty bird trying to find a place to roost and get lunch....I was wearing a bright red shirt.
Also the necter does not need to be red, clear is fine as long as the feeder is red.
I went to look and my birding site is state only, but I am sure you can find some for your state alone. But, I wanted to show you some of the things that you would never hope to see. I got this email last week, look at these and try not to shake your head in awe.
