Preggo Stuff - UPDATE - 2nd update: I AM IN LABOUR

Blood tests show no sign of diabetes, growth scan shows all meaurements within normal range; quite a lot of amniotic fluid which is nothing to worry about and probably explains the Bump = Resume Midwife Care.  Yay!

Great news!  Continued thoughts for an uneventful pregnancy!

     Wooo Hooo! Big Smile

Just been looking at the graphs and..... all measurements slightly above average except abdominal circumference, which is in the 95th percentile.  I'm cooking a fatty!  Big Smile

I'm so happy that you got good news and hope it didn't cause too much stress for you while you waited. I hope things are smooth from here on out.

Glad you got good news.  Now you can go back to cookin' that fattie. Big Smile

Thanks everyone!  I am so relieved... The clinic was horribly busy.  We arrived on time at 2.30 and had to wait over an hour to be seen!  During that time I could hear a woman in the next room arguing with her consultant about an induction... she wanted to think about it and at least have more tests to check the status quo of her and her babies (twins) and he wa spressuring her...  I was sat there the whole time crossing my fingers and hoping I wouldn't be transferred to a consultant for being high risk... I am not naturally a confrontational person, or someone who is any good at standing up for myself against people like that Tongue Tied

I'm so glad you got good news. Stinks about the woman with twins. I hope that everything worked out ok for her. I'm not naturally confrontational either. But when it came to giving birth to Meri I knew my mind and asked and declined what I felt was right. And they respected my decisions. I bet you'd find yourself very able to stand up for yourself in any given situation when it comes to birthing your baby :) Here's to a happy, healthy and completely uneventful rest of your pregnancy!

I wasn't last time!  I trusted the chaps with the medical knowledge and fancy name tags more than I trusted my own gut.... and there are several things about Will's birth I would like to have gone differently, but you can never get that time back.

Glad to hear the news was good,  back to the oven you go! LOL!

Another update - measure large for dates AGAIN on Wednesday, booked in for another growth scan tomorrow.  I'm 30 weeks tomorrow, and my bump is measuring 4 weeks ahead.  This is the last time, I swear - if they do this again I am refusing it.  Get OVER it, it's just a big bump, very likely caused by lots of fluid, a big baby and the position baby is in at the moment....  Me and LO are fine and yes, I am still birthing at home thank you very much.

Oh and my blood test came back - I am "quite anemic".  I've picked up my prescription of iron tablets like a good girl, and I'm torn between taking them and hoping it boosts my iron levels enough that it doesn't give them another reason to try to block my home birth, or not taking them and saving myself the constipation and heartburn.... Not to mention the fact that the low count is probably physiological anyway and not a cause for alarm, and that more iron will block the absorption of zinc (important growth factor) and can increase the risk of low birth weight baby.....  Oh and increase the risk of pre-eclampsia as well.

I want to yell at them: Really, I'm FINE - leave me alone, stop poking and prodding me and medicating me and just turn up to catch the baby on the big day... that is all I need you for!

PLEASE send good vibes and cross everything for a normal result tomorrow, because if they try to transfer me to consultant-led care I'm going to have to put my foot down and I am not very good at that!!

Definately good vibes for you Chuffy!!!!!  I think you might have some IDog friends that could help you with the "putting the foot down" thing.

    • Gold Top Dog

You've got alllll my good vibes Chuffy!

BTW my friend whose pregnancy got me interested in the birth stuff I posted about a while ago had her baby girl last week - everyone is happy and healthy and had a wonderful birth. Smile

Thanks both!  Scan checked out normal (no surprises there).  It's only the "low iron" I have to contend with now....

Congrats to your friend stardog!  :D  I can't wait to meet my Peanut....
