She will be okay - beagles are resilient - I mean, look at Agnes, beagle mix herself, who is still hanging tough, when we thought she'd not make it two weeks.

That just makes me so mad... poor dog... but I bet Dusty is soooooooooooooooooooo happy to be back with you! Please do keep us posted on progress. Thinking lots of good thoughts for a quick turnaround.

I'm so glad she's with you now.  I hope the AC checks on the other pets.  It breaks my heart to think of her living like that with that jerk.  Dusty, you keep getting better, girl and tell your mom to give you lots of lovins and belly rubs from me.   Bless you, Steph for being the person you are.

So glad she's back in good hands and getting treatment for her worms & fleas, getting actual meals, and canine & human companionship that is genuine.  Poor girl!  Sending her good thoughts!  Glad your friend filed the report - hopefully there will be no question that she is yours.  This may sound odd, but if he really didn't bring her to the vet since YOUR last visit w/her in '08, then he has even less "proof of ownership" that he could use to try to keep/get her back.

WOW, unbelievable!  I'm just extremely happy to know that Dusty is with you now.  That dumba$$ idiot.

I bet she feels sooo much better since being with you....and happier!

This may sound odd, but if he really didn't bring her to the vet since YOUR last visit w/her in '08, then he has even less "proof of ownership" that he could use to try to keep/get her back. 

I'm not too worried that he'll try to get her back, but if he does then yes you are absolutely right.  I got 'permission' from him, that I could have her, via text, so there is a 'written' record of it too.  From what I've been hearing now, it seems like he was planing on getting rid of her somehow b/c he's trying to get a new apartment and he was heard saying that he currently has 2 dogs, but when he's ready to move in he'll only have 1.  I sincerely hope that was just b/c he knew he was going to let me have her.

Steph - you rock.  Good for you for making sure you got her.  Sounds like he won't be with THIS girlfriend long either.  Maybe it will be a wake-up for her as well.
