Finally! I meet her later today.

I've been teary eyed since I left. She is so beautiful, and just what I've been looking for. Everything was a go, then I mentioned the picking her up in a week or so. Like the lady and I discussed. Then things went downhill.
 
She said that her father wanted her gone tonight. I brought up what we had talked about earlier today, and she said there was another person that wanted her and could take her tomorrow. Kenny doesn't want puppies, and wont allow her here until she's spayed. I understand that completely, and it sounds reasonable to me. But the lady took back everything she said.

Her and Beau absolutely loved each other. She was VERY friendly.

Could you take her and find a different vet to spay her sooner?

Do you have C-snip in your area?? Or could your local humane society help? They do spayings here anyway.

Just take her and have her spayed in a month. It won't matter if she's pregnant. Is she in heat, right now??? I'd take the chance.

Gosh, can't believe some of these people! Guess it doesn't matter which home is better home, as long as she can be "gone by tonight," huh?

If she's not in heat right now, then it doesn't really matter if you bring her home and get her spayed ASAP does it? She is a beautiful dog, I really hope you work it out so you can get her!!!!

If she's been outside for two years, and if she's in heat now, what's to say she isn't pregnant already? I say take her, and just get the spay done asap.

I'm going to call her tomorrow and talk to her again. I had tears when I left because my hopes were high.
 
It is strange that he's had that dog for two years, then all of a sudden... wants her gone. She is a giant sweetheart. She has a kennel that she spends most of her time in. He lets her run around the property for a little bit during the day. He even said something about breeding her! [:@]  It's obvious that she is pure GS. He was saying something about the father having German lines.
 
Well, I'm not sure what's going to happen. Kenny is upset, that I'm upset, but still doesn't want an intact female with Beau. I called the local vets and they are at least two weeks backed up. If she was smaller, they could fit her in there in a week. Another vet is asking $275 for a spay and that's for 60 to 80 pounds. (I bet Gretchin weighs more than that.) Which unfortunately, I don't have that much. The other two vet/shelters are $120 and $100.
 
This not working out would be ok if my birthday wasn't 5 days away... It reminds me of that song... "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to"

Really sorry seriously though about the tough luck you are having with the fur babies. Maybe you can talk your husband into letting you get her and just keep the seperated until the surgery. I'm sure that would be a hard thing to do but maybe[8D]. Or as others said if she isn't in heat now just get her and do the spay asap. I really hope it works out for you Shannon..........G'Luck[]

There has been a lot of bad luck when it comes to getting that female shepherd I've been looking for. If it's not one thing, it's another....
 
Kenny is now saying no to the unspayed female, and talking about buying from a breeder! He can't make up his mind. I can... I would like a semi adult female german shepherd, a malinois, or a mix of something similar, spayed, that isn't dumb. It's hard to find a dumb shepherd!
 
I'm going to do a little more calling around today, in hopes of setting something up before the other lady gets her.
