This happen not too far from me

After taking 93 animals from a home where they were living in terrible conditions the Spartanburg County Humane Society realized they had a growing problem, nearly all of the female dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs are pregnant.

It's been a day since those animals came to the humane society, and after better assessment, we now know that almost every female of every species brought here is pregnant, which is a bigger problem.

On Thursday animal control brought in 93 animals from a home on Douglas Lane near Duncan.  Dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs were all in pretty bad shape.  Workers at the humane society spent the last day caring for the animals and cleaning them up.

Some of the animals had to be shaved completely because of matted hair, some have respiratory infections open sores and wounds.  And to add to that 68 of the females are pregnant
The woman officials say is responsible, Rhonda Aulicky has been charged with three counts of animal cruelty.
Aulikey could pay close to $1500 in fines if convicted on all counts.

And, officers make another animal cruelty bust Friday afternoon.  This time 21 small dogs, mostly poodles were seized.
Animal control officers say the dogs were in some of the worst condition they'd ever seen.  Officers say the dogs had been living in their own filth for quite some time.  At one time officers say the dogs' owner lived in her car while the animals had the run of the house.

Isabell Snow has been charged with three counts of animal cruelty.  The dogs are now at the humane society.

I know they said on the news they are looking for Shoe Boxes  for the Guinea Pigs to be born in... So maybe if you are Close by to SC someone cold help out...

The sad thing is that they said a second case has happen that they are going to talk about on the news tonight...

The first case is clearly animal hoarding. It's a sickness that is very hard to cure, and these women do need to suffer consequences other than monetary ones, because they will go right back to doing the same thing. They need treatment, which may involve committment, as far as I can tell. It's a persistent and insidious mental illness.

Here are some people who are studying animal hoarding:

    Very interesting reading.

The weird thing is that animal hoarders believe they are saving animals, and that no one can take care of them better than they can. They are completely delusional about the state of the animals, and the state they live in themselves. Most animal hoarders are women, but I've seen cases where men do it, too.

The second case with the poodles sounds like a BYB gone to animal hoarding.

What angers me is that the law slaps hands and sends them home. If we want to save the animals, we have to save the people, too. Otherwise they just go home and start over. [:(]
