My neighbor is a nut. . .

    My neighbor is a nut. . .

I wasn't even going to post but it's been bothering me all day.

Today, just before we came in from our walk Willow wanted to sniff around on the side of the house.  Well, my neighbor on that same side has two small dogs that bark at everything.  They started barking when they heard us coming and kept going.  Then I heard a voice and then I heard something that clanged when it hit the ground and the dogs stopped.  I thought immediately that someone had thrown something at them.

Now, I didn't hear them yelp or anything.  But, even if they weren't hit with whatever it was, I still think it's wrong.

Am I way off base here??  Am I over reacting??

I should add that this same family had two totally different dogs last summer when they moved in.  I have no idea what became of them, just one day they had two new dogs.

I don't know if this may be what you heard, but I have heard one method to get dogs to stop barking is by using a sound... for example, someone suggested putting pennies in a soda can and covering the hole.  When the dog barks, shake the can to distract the dog.  Then the dog eventually learns that sound means no bark.

Could this have been the situation possibly?  I haven't tried the method to know if it works or is wrong or whatever.

Well it is kinda hard too say since you really could not see what was going on. But I would for sure  keep my eyes open.

Was there anything in the vicinity on the ground that simply didn't belong there or seemed like it hadn't been there before?  It's hard to tell if something was thrown, or if they did use the 'pennycan' method to stop barking.  These people maybe more than a little bit 'passive-aggressive' and won't approach you in person to solve problems but will resort to behind the scenes actions to do what ever comes to mind.  They may have totally justified in their heads to act this way so don't count on too much logic from your neighbors.  Just keep minding your p's and q's and try to ignore as much as you can until they cross legal boundaries.  Remember to document as you go (just in case).  Good luck to you, hopefully a vaporous pit opens in front of them and they fall in and disappear into some abyss in another realm where they live with nothing but Barney and Tellytubbies forever and ever a-men.  Jules

Oh, Jules, you eternal optimist with the soul of a poet.

Yeah, I'm staying away, although she keeps waving every time she sees me.  The other day she happened to be driving by while I was walking and actually stopped.  No, I don't want to be friends!  I want to ask where the original two dogs they moved in with went!  But, I'll leave that one alone.

It sounded like she threw something at them.  The sound wasn't a coin in can sound.  Have you ever dropped a stainless steel dog bowl?  That's what it sounded like, but that it hit harder.

Anyway, gonna keep an eye, don't want those poor dogs getting hit or anything.  I know she yells at them, but not much I can do about that.
